Turkish English Tafsir Lesson 151-157
Al-Quran Al-Kareem – Tafsir (Exegesis) Lesson 151
I seek shelter in Allah from the rejected Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Ibrahim was tested. So, how did Janâb-i Haqq test Ibrahim? Said, “Go and sacrifice Ismail. He followed the command of Allah, and he, his son Ismail (Ishmael), and our mother Hacer (Hagar) who was mother Ismail (Ishmael) were heroes, for they submitted themselves to Allah. They passed that test as well. You see, what did Janâb-i Haqq give them as a fidyah? See, Jibril (a.s.) brought a sacrificial goat. This had happened in Mina, where hajjis (pilgrims) sacrifice animals now.
Ibrahim entreated his wealth in the way of Allah. They say “Khalil Ibrahim’s Table” about the generosity of Ibrahim. His wealth and property were ready to be served to people. Everything he got he used in the way of Allah. Go and see the 20th verse of Surah Ali Imran [3].
He was saying, “I have submitted my will to Allah, and so has he who follows me,” which is Prophet Muhammad. You see, such a Prophet came from the lineage of Ibrahim (a.s.). Prophet Muhammad came from the lineage of Ibrahim.
The greatest Prophet of Mercy came for all the worlds, and he came from the lineage of Ibrahim. Prophet Muhammad came from the lineage of Ibrahim’s son Ismail (Ishmael). Do not ever forget that Janâb-i Haqq took Ibrahim as a friend.
Allah took Musa (Moses) as neciy, which means confidant. As for Prophet Muhammad, Allah took him as a Khabib or Beloved. This is narrated by our Prophet. Janâb-i Haqq says the following. For the right of izzat and jalal, Almighty Allah says. “I shall,” says Allah, “surely make it easy for my Beloved Muhammad, my Khalil and Kalim, and I shall prefer him.”
Our Prophet had seen Musa (Moses) in the miʿraj (the night journey) on the sixth layer of the heavens. As for Ibrahim, he was him on the seventh layer of the heavens. As for the others, he saw them in the lower levels. As for himself, he exceeded the seventh layer, and Sidrat al-Muntahā, and landed on the Palace and Place in the Plains of the ʿArsh (the Throne). He went to the Placeless Palace. He arrived at qāba qawsayn (within two bows length). The degrees that are given to Prophet Muhammad were never given to anyone. For he was sent as a Prophet upon all the worlds and all nations. Muhammad is the Prophet of all worlds, all nations, and all eras.
Whether people believe or not, this is the truth, this is the reality. That is why it is Prophet Muhammad who went beyond the Sidrat. We mustn’t portray the truth as wrong and vice versa, for the measures are to be designated according to the system of the divine values, and these can be understood through divine statements. The trueness of a thing should be based on the divine statement. That is, it will either be based on Al-Quran Al-Karim, or Prophet Muhammad, or the whole community consensus (ijmā al-ummah), or qiyās (analogical reasoning).
That is why Muslims, and all people of the world need to hear the truth of Islam, along with the life-giving values so that they may be happy, so that they may find life, and so that they may live forever. This is why Islam has been manifested by Allah’s leave. This is bound to being a good Muslim.
Friends, may Janâb-i Haqq make us all among the servants who are eternally blissful, who live what is right and real, whose inside and outside are nothing but faith (iman) and Islam.

Al-Quran Al-Kareem – Tafsir (Exegesis) Lesson 152
I seek shelter in Allah from the rejected Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Not every heart may distinguish between the Jalal and the Jamal.
The nūr (light) of Jalal falls on the nūr (light) of Jamal.
It can’t pass by finding a crack to slip by.
The nūr (light) of Jamal falls on the nūr (light) of Jalal.
O, our Almighty Rabb! Make us all say Allah wholeheartedly. Make us all love you with every fibre of our being! Make our imans or faiths perfect and lasting, we pray you whole heartedly.
Beloved friends!
With these wishes we continue on our life-giving lectures that are about the Glorious Al-Quran Al-Karim of Almighty Allah who offers us being eternally blissful, finding a happy life, shielding ourselves from evil, and equipping ourself with the truths. We wish to be saved from the wrongs, and be equipped with rights. See, this is how one finds true life, and this is the life of Islam. As long as the wrongs reside in your inner world and as long as you are not equipped with the rights, finding peace and being happy are nothing other than dreams, bear this in mind! You and I are all servants or qul of Allah. We need to have the things that Allah wants. We need to fulfil the wishes of Allah. Would a person not do whatever his or her beloved says? See, if you love Allah with every fibre of your being, then do everything Allah says, and do not ever do what Allah says do not do! For if you do, then you’ll lose the love, and the one who loses the love loses everything. That said, the one who earns the love earns everything, we’re telling you. You may believe or not! We are us. You are from us, and we are from you. We are all servants or qul of Allah, let us not forget that! Let us speak the truths without making discrimination.
Now, we would like to further clarify the verses of the Quran which I gave the core meanings before. So, let us talk about the People of the Book. We have to speak the truth when it comes to Christians as well. They say, “A master’s son is more valuable and honourable than his servant (qul).” Who says it? It is the Christians. They say Isa (Jesus) (a.s.) is Allah’s son. As for Muhammad, they say he is Allah’s servant (qul). See, they say that a master’s son is more valuable and honourable than his servant (qul). They say that the difference between a master’s son and his servant is the same as the difference between Christianity and Islam.
Time Stamp: 5:00
Now, let us continue by putting forward the truths against the wrongs. We’re not replying any question with dogmatic fanaticism or bigotry. We’re replying the wrongs with the most sacred truths, for we have to. For example, let’s talk about the 14th chapter of Gospel of John.

I seek shelter in Allah from the rejected Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Dearest friends!
Just like Ibn-i Kathīr said, complete obedience to Allah will make one attain the position of friendship. That is why we need to obey Allah in the sincerest manner. You’ll become a friend of Almighty Allah, and you’ll attain the position of friendship, through Allah’s generosity and mercy. That is why, let us fully obey Allah altogether.

Al-Quran Al-Kareem – Tafsir (Exegesis) Lesson 155
On the 131st, and 134th verses of Surah al-Nisa [4].
I seek shelter in Allah from the rejected Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The hodja is reciting the 131st verse of Surah al-Nisa [4].
Almighty Rabb says, “Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, all belongs to Allah.” “We have commanded to you and to those who were given the Book before you to fear Allah,” says Janâb-i Haqq. “If you deny, then know that whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth belongs to Allah. Allah is never in need of anything.”
Thanks, and praises suit Allah, for they are Allah’s right.
The hodja is reciting the 132nd, 133rd, and 134th verses of Surah al-Nisa [4].
“Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth belongs to Allah. Allah is sufficient as trustee.”
“O, mankind! If Allah wishes, Allah will take you away, and bring others in your place. Allah is al-Qadir (All-Powerful) to do that.”
“Whoever desires the bounty of the world should know that the bounties of this world and the next are with Allah. Allah is All-Seeing, and All-Hearing.

Al-Quran Al-Kareem – Tafsir (Exegesis) Lesson 156
On the 135th and 147th verses of Surah al-Nisa [4].
I seek shelter in Allah from the rejected Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The hodja is reciting the 135th verse of Surah al-Nisa [4].
Almighty Rabb, who created us from nothing and introduced Allah to us; our Almighty Rabb who offered us Islam says, “O, you who believe,” to us!
“Even if it should be against yourself, or your parents and near relatives, be maintainers of justice and witness only for the sake of Allah. For whether it be someone rich or someone poor, Allah is closer to both of them than you. Do not draw away from justice by following the desires of yourself. If you twist your tongues while witnessing, or if you hesitate, then surely Allah is well aware of what you do.”
It is Allah from whom you shall hesitate, and it is Allah whom you should love. Don’t you ever rebel Allah for the sake of others. Think about the pleasure (riza) of Allah. Don’t you ever polish the apple for others for their sake, rather be upright and honest.
The hodja is reciting the 136th verse of Surah al-Nisa [4].
Almighty Rabb commands, “O, you who believe! Believe in Allah, the Messenger, and the Book that Allah sent down to the Messenger,” meaning the Glorious Quran, “and the Book that Allah had sent earlier. Whoever denies Allah’s angels, books, messengers, and the Last Day, will have fallen into the deepest wells of misguidance,” so get your mind together! Do not ever be among the deniers! Rather believe in Al-Quran Al-Karim, for it teaches you what you should believe. It teaches you everything regarding the past and the future. Do not forget that Al-Quran Al-Karim and Prophet Muhammad reveals the true iman and faith.
The hodja is reciting the 137th, and 138th verses of Surah al-Nisa [4].
You see, our Almighty Rabb says: “As for those who believe and then disbelieve, then believe again and then disbelieve, and then increase their denial further, Allah will neither forgive them, nor guide them to the right way.”
That is, there is no amnesty for them, and no guidance or hidayat.
“Give tidings to the hypocrites that for them there is a truly painful punishment,” now who is this hypocrite? It is those who portray themselves as Muslims but lack iman (faith) and Islam in their inner world. They try to show themselves as Muslims, as for their inner world, there is neither iman (faith), nor Islam.
Time Stamp: 5:06
The hodja is reciting the 139th verse of Surah al-Nisa [4].
You see, Almighty Rabb says, “Those,” and addresses the hypocrites first. “Those who take kāfirs as friends instead of the believers. Do they seek honour and glory with them? Whereas all honour and glory belong to Allah,” do not forget this ever! Honour and glory belong to Allah.
Now, another verse of the Quran says glory or izzat belong to Allah, the Messenger, and the believers.
Moreover, Janâb-i Haqq said the following.
The hodja is reciting the 140th verse of Surah al-Nisa [4].
Almighty Rabb commands, “Surely, Allah revealed to you in the Book, Al-Quran Al-Karim that when you hear the verses of Allah being rejected and when you hear them being ridiculed,” meaning if someone is mocking your Book, and another mocks the verses of the Quran. It is said that when you hear this, “Do not sit with the kāfirs until they engage in another conversation.
Making mockery with the Quran is disbelief (kufr). “Do not sit with them until they engage in some other discourse, otherwise you will be like them.” If you’re also approving them while sitting with them as they make mockery of it, then you are one among them, says Janâb-i Haqq.
See, this is how Janâb-i Haqq tells us that, “Allah Ta’ala has sent down the Decree.” Says, “Surely, Allah will gather the hypocrites and the kāfirs in Jahannam (Hell).”
Those who have iman or faith as much as the smallest atom cannot make mockers of Al-Quran Al-Karim, let alone ridiculing its verses. See, does Islam value something? Then, it is Allah Ta’ala who gave it that value, and you cannot make mockery of it, you cannot ridicule it, and you cannot disacknowledge it. For as long as you do, you are one among them. This is what Janâb-i Haqq reminds us here. Says, “Get your mind together!”
The hodja is reciting the 141st verse of Surah al-Nisa [4].
Almighty Rabb commanded: “The hypocrites try to deceive Allah, whereas Allah will smack them with their games. When they stand up for namāz, they get up lazily, and they show off to people. They don’t remember Allah much. They keep observing you. If a victory is for you from Allah, they say, ‘Were we not with you?’ But if the kāfirs have a share in victory, they say, ‘Did we not prevail upon you and defend you against the faithful?’ Allah will judge between you on the Day of Judgment, and Allah will never provide the kāfirs a way to prevail over the faithful.”
Time Stamp: 10:40
The hodja is reciting the 142nd verse of Surah al-Nisa [4].
This is another sign of the hypocrites, for they try to deceive Allah but they are unaware that they only deceive themselves. This is a complete vagrancy, even if all the worlds gathered could they deceive Allah? It is said that these hypocrites act lazily when they stand up for namāz, and they show off, and they remember Allah rarely. These are the signs of hypocrisy.
The hodja is reciting the 143rd verse of Surah al-Nisa [4].
“The hypocrites are wavering in between iman and kufr. They are neither with these believers, nor with these kāfirs. And whomever Allah leads astray, you cannot find for him a way of salvation anymore.”
You see, the hypocrites are neither believers when they are with believers, nor are they disbelievers when they are with disbelievers. They always waver in between belief and disbelief. They are neither with the believers nor with the disbelievers. And whoever Allah leads astray from the right way, you cannot find for him a way of salvation. See, this is the state of the hypocrites. May Allah shield everyone from hypocrisy.
The hodja is reciting the 144th verse of Surah al-Nisa [4].
Then again, our Almighty Rabb commands: “O, you who believe! Do not take the disbelievers (kāfirs) as friends by leaving the believers (mu’mins). Do you wish to give Allah a manifest evidence against yourself?” Allah said, so bear that in mind as well!
O, Muslim! Never forget this either:
The hodja is reciting the 145th verse of Surah al-Nisa [4].
Without a doubt, the hypocrites will be in the lowest layer of the Fire of Jahannam,” you see, the abode of the hypocrites is the lowest depths of Jahannam (Hell). “You will never find for them any helper,” for there is none. Who can help the one whom Allah sent to the deepest layer of Jahannam? Moreover, Allah says that Al-Quran Al-Karim, the religion of Islam, meaning Almighty Allah (c.c.) has shown a remedy for everything. That is, repentance and asking for forgiveness. The disbeliever has to renounce from disbelief (kufr), and come to belief (iman), the hypocrite has to renounce his corruption or nifaq, and come to monotheism or tawhid as we call it.
Now, let us see what Janâb-i Haqq says.
The hodja is reciting the 146th verse of Surah al-Nisa [4].
Time Stamp: 15:06
“Except those who repent,” but it is really hard for a hypocrite to repent. Not every hypocrite can repent, for repentance is not bestowed upon every hypocrite. “Except those who repent and correct themselves, and hold fast to Allah, and are bound to their religion for Allah in a sincere manner. Then, those will be with the believers. And soon the believers will be given a great reward by Allah.”
You see, Allah did not say they are believers. Allah said, “they are with the believers,” even about those of the hypocrites who repent. So, bear this in mind!
The hodja is reciting the 147th verse of Surah al-Nisa [4].
“What will Allah do to you if you are grateful and you believe? Allah gives the rewards of those who are grateful, and All-Knowing,” meaning if you show real gratitude, then you’ll be given abundant rewards for your gratefulness.

Al-Quran Al-Kareem – Tafsir (Exegesis) Lesson 157
I seek shelter in Allah from the rejected Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Dearest friends!
We have given the meanings of the verses in our previous lecture, and in those sacred verses, Janâb-i Haqq definitively wants love, intimacy, rejoice and justice, and equality between the husband and the wife. Says that people should do their utmost in these matters. So, love your wives for Allah as best as you can. That said, women should love their man as well, and don’t lapse in regards to intimacy. And establish equality and justice to the extent of your ability in intimacy. Do these according to your ability’s extent. Try to ensure complete justice but there may be certain things which you may not afford. So, what is important is to use your ability. Do not ever stop loving and respecting your spouses as best as you can, and abide by the divine measures! There is no happiness like the one you can have in the family. Now, Prophet Muhammad and his own wives, who are our mothers, about them, they are the mothers of all humanity.
Our Prophet had said, “My Allah! This is the division I can do, and do not hold me responsible for the things that I cannot afford,” this is how he supplicated to Janâb-i Haqq.
So, we can understand from the content of this dua or prayer that you need to love your spouse as best as you can, and act fairly. If you have more than one wife, then you need to observe complete justice between them.
Now, some people who are considered to be mujaddid show this verse as proof. That is, they show this verse as proof and it is as if they completely disregard the 3rd verse of Surah al-Nisa [4] of Al-Quran Al-Karim for they bring forth their own opinions. In Islam on the condition that justice is observed, and if the need arises, second, third, or fourth marriage is permitted.
Those who disregard this should know well that their opinions are wrong (bātil), for they are disregarding something that is in Islam. They couldn’t comprehend life, couldn’t understand life, have no idea of the highs and lows of life, and they disregard cases when it is necessary. They completely neglect the realities of life and straight-up ignorance, and this has nothing to do with being a mujaddid. Therefore, the opinions of those who neglect these truths are wrong (bātil). Islam is a bright and life-giving order that sheds lights upon people, and the sharia (law) of Islam and Sunnah al-Saniyya rejects it. May Allah protect us from the evil of all people who consider themselves mujaddid, who do not understand the nass (canonical text).
Islam has blocked all ways that lead to zinā, and paved the way for halal. Islam gives a ruhsat or permit to second marriage if a need or exigency occurs. Neglecting this is not good. This permit is given on the condition that justice is observed, and to neglect this by trying to use a verse against another verse, and using that verse to neglect the other verse is not possible, for one cannot take one command of Allah and completely disregard the another.
These are wrong (bātil) mindsets. That is why those who can’t deal justly will confine themselves to one, and those who can deal justly can marry up to 4 if and when the need arises. There may occur such conditions that these conditions may be personal, which are about the individual himself, and sometimes there are general or social conditions. That is why we say that people have different conditions and be in different situations. The state of affairs may change from person to person. That is why on the condition that you’ll deal justly, and you’ll observe their material and spiritual needs, and if the need arises, Janâb-i Haqq gave a permit or ruhsat. However, if there is no such situation, and the person fears he may not deal justly, then he should confine himself to one.
Time Stamp: 5:49
There is another word mentioned here, which is “eddeh”. It is said in the verse that the lowest of the low in Jahannam (Hell) is ʾasfali sāfilīn, and this place is edderku, which means layers that go down and down, this is the name of going towards Jahannam (Hell). The hypocrites, the disbelievers (kāfirs), and the faithless all have daraka (degradation), they go downwards. They gradually go down and down. The name used for going upwards is daraja (rank/class), and the name of going downwards is daraka (degradation). That is why we should not confuse the words daraja and daraka. Islam makes you rise, for it is always higher, and more developed, and most advanced.
Moreover, the following hadith is from Bukhari Sharif.
The hodja is reciting the original text of the hadith in Arabic.
“It is cruelty for he who has means to delay his debt,” he says. That is, let’s say you borrowed some money, and you can afford paying back right now. But you did not pay him back right away, rather you paid him back tomorrow, this is cruelty. You have to pay him back right away if you can afford.
There is a variety of other narrations as well. For example, a report that comes from Ibn-i Kathīr says: “The desire of the self is nepotism, and do not let their ill feeling stray you from justice.” See, some people show favouritism due to the desire of the self. They try to grant favours or jobs to friends and family. They show favouritism towards their own kin, and they cheat someone off his rights due to their ill feeling and grudge.
It is said that none of these should stray you from justice. So, deal justly. It may be your father, your mother, your sibling, or whoever it may be, implement the divine justice. You will not be dealing justly if you don’t do this.
Moreover, let me give you a note from Ebussuud Efendi, “Believe in all Abrahamic Books.” Besides, this is what Al-Quran Al-Karim commands. Al-Quran Al-Karim has completely introduced what you should believe. That is why everything that passes the confirmation of the Quran, and the confirmation of Prophet Muhammad is ours, whether it is about the past or the future.
Now, a report that comes from Ibn-i Abbas say: “All hypocrites at sea, on earth, and on air are encompassed by the provision of this verse,” he said about the 137th verse of Surah al-Nisa [4]. Says, ““All hypocrites at sea, on earth, and on air are encompassed by the provision of this verse,” meaning wherever there is a hypocrite. The hypocrites are explained thoroughly by Al-Quran Al-Karim. That said, they are also explained in Sunnat-i Saniyya, and hadith-i sharifs. Islam reads the souls of people, and shows them to you. Says, “This is a hypocrite.” Says, “This is a kāfir.” Says, “This is a believer.” Says, “This is right, and that is wrong.” See, Islam, Al-Quran Al-Karim, and Prophet Muhammad presented this as clear as day. That said, all of our true Islamic scholars (ālims) have been in a scholarly contest, and their knowledge came to us in perfect condition, and we need to convey the knowledge to the next generation.
Time Stamp: 10:20
Then again, a report that came from Al-Zamakhsharī says, “The flagrant sinners (fāsiq) generally die in a sad case,” meaning if evil has encompassed a person from inside and outside, and he did not make a sincere repentance for that evil, it is said that he dies with that evil, for it is not so easy to remove those evil deeds that have settled well. Getting rid of them is not an easy thing to do. That is why we have to ask for Allah’s help many times while repenting in the sincerest manner, and ask for forgiveness. “The renegades who turn their backs on their repentances often die a horrible death.” “The believers will not cease to exist; in the end the victory will belong to the believers.” Friends, this is a report that comes from Al-Qurtubi and Ibn-i Kathīr. That said, these are reports that are based on the root, and Al-Qurtubi is a grand Islamic scholar (ālim). Almighty Allah has ascribed the victory of the believers to Allah.
The hodja is reciting the original text of the following quote: Janâb-i Haqq says, “The victory is from Allah.”
This way, Janâb-i Haqq ascribes the victory of the believers to Janâb-i Haqq. That is, Janâb-i Haqq says, “The believers are with Me, and I am with them.” Everybody should understand this, give ear to this, and bear this in mind! If you are a true believer, then Allah is with you. If you are a true believer, then you are with Allah. You see, the extent of the glory of the Muslim is demonstrated here. Allah says, “A Muslim is such an honourable and esteemed individual,” by ascribing the victory to Allah.
See, Janâb-i Haqq called the victory of the disbeliever (kāfir) a share. Allah says, “But if there was a share for the disbelievers (kāfirin) in victory,” says Allah. Allah does not use the word victory for the disbelievers (kāfirin), rather uses the word share. There is only a share for the disbelievers (kāfirin), and if that happens what does Allah do? Allah does not ascribe that to Allah, for Allah does not side with the disbelievers (kāfirin), for the disbelievers (kāfirin) do not side with Allah. For only a temporary share is given to the disbelievers (kāfirin) on earth, as for the next world, they do not have any share in it. Their shares in the world are also temporary. The true inheritors of the world are the Muslims, do not ever forget this, and try to look for ways to become a good Muslim!
Fire has seven layers.
Now, regarding this matter which Al-Sabuni also mentioned in Bahr al-Muhit, it is said that the Fire consists of seven layers. One of these layers is jahannam, another is ladhaa, another is al-hutamah, another is as-sa’eer, and the others are saqar, al-jaheem, and al-hawiyah. Such names are given to these layers, this is a statement of the mufassirs.
Now, these layers are counted from bottom to the top. There are also layers that are counted from the top to the bottom. There are layers that are counted from top to bottom. But of course, one of these layers is hawiyah, this is for sinful believers. The second layer is saqar, which is for the Jews. The third is named as-sa’eer, and it is for the Christians. The fourth is al-jaheem, and it is for those who worship the star-worshippers, moon-worshippers, and sun-worshippers. The fifth one is ladhaa, and it is for the Zoroastrians. The sixth one is al- hutamah, it is for the idolaters. As for the others, well, actually the lowest layer is for the hypocrites (munafiqun). The lowest reach is reserved for the hypocrites (munafiqun) and similar people. We have listed this from the top to the bottom, but another listing is from the bottom to the top. This way, I have counted both of them.
You see, the highest layer is where the sinful believers will burn, and it is called al- hawiyah.
Time Stamp: 15:45
Now, what is being said in the last verses of Surah al-Qari’ah [101]?
The hodja is reciting the 11th and 9th verses of Surah al-Qari’ah [101].
Allah says, “As for those whose sins weigh heavier in the scale, their home will be ḥāmiya. So, what is hāwiya, or rather nārun ḥāmiya? It is the scorching and blazing fire, the punishment in fire, and this is the lightest punishment. As you go down to other levels, the punishment gets more severe. Now, a lighter punishment is that they will make you wear a shoe made out of fire. They will make you wear a shoe made out of fire, and your brain will start boiling. There are reports that say there is no lighter punishment.
That said, the hypocrites (munafiqun) are worse than the disbelievers (kāfirin). This is why their abode is the lowest layers. The abode of the hypocrite or munafiq is the lowest level.
Now, the hypocrite or munafiq must abide by these while repenting: He must make real repentance, and then he must keep his intention strong. The hypocrite or munafiq must straighten all his deeds. He must hold fast to his religion. He will only worship to Allah. If the hypocrite or munafiq fails in any of these conditions, then he will not have truly repented.
Hypocrite (munafiq) is the name of the worst type of disbeliever (kāfir). The worst type of disbeliever (kāfir) is a hypocrite (munafiq). They portray themselves as Muslims, but inside they are disbeliever (kāfir), and they are the worst kind of disbelievers (kāfir). Such people are the farthest to repentance. The hypocrites (munafiqun) are the those who are farthest to repentance.
Allah did not call them believers even after they repent, rather said they are with the believers. Allah did not say they will be rewarded either, said a great reward will be given to the believers. This way, Allah emphasised their enormity, and that Allah has turned away from them. That is why we need to pay utmost attention to that.
The hodja is reciting the 145th verse of Surah al-Nisa [4].
The 145th verse says that the hypocrites will be in the lowest layer of the Fire, lowest place of Jahannam (Hell). This is the 145th verse of Surah al-Nisa [4].
As for the disbeliever (kāfir), when he renounces from his disbelief (kufr) and adopts faith, all of his past sins will be erased. The disbeliever (kāfir) has that chance, but it is really hard for a hypocrite (munafiq) to repent. For he is a kāfir who considers himself a Muslim. Yet he is not a Muslim, but he portrays himself as one, for this is how he trained himself. This is how he settled enormities inside him. That is why it is really hard for him to repent. It is a very difficult thing for him to ask for forgiveness and come to belief (iman), except by a guidance (hidayat) from Allah.
On the other hand, the disbeliever (kāfir) openly states their disbelief (kufr), and when they declare faith or when they become Muslims, all their past sins are erased because the religion of Islam erases the sins that are committed before it. As for hijra or emigration, it automatically erases the sins before it. This goes for martyrdom as well. This goes for Hajj Mabroor as well. This goes for true pilgrimage or hajj as well. That is why we have to pay utmost attention to these and try to look for ways to live with iman (faith) and die with iman (faith). Otherwise, the situation is very dire. Otherwise, the situation is truly terrifying. For dying without having iman (faith), or getting used to hypocrisy are terrible things.
Time Stamp: 20:57
May Janâb-i Haqq watch over us and protect us from all types of corruption (nifaq), and all types of disbelief (kufr) and polytheism (shirk), and protect us from all types of evil! Now, another word that is mentioned in these verses of the Quran is yastafti, and it means to ask for legal opinion (fatwa). Janâb-i Haqq spoke about the women who seek legal opinion (fatwa), and said that the legal opinion (fatwa) belongs to Allah. For it is Allah who made the distribution between men and women. It is Allah Ta’ala who gives the command, and sets the laws and rules. It is Allah Ta’ala who created men and women with honour. That is why do not seek legal opinion (fatwa) from anyone but Allah. Now, what does this mean? It means that you need to seek the opinion of Al-Quran Al-Karim, the Sunnah, and Prophet Muhammad. You need to seek legal opinion (fatwa) of the mujtahid âlims who know Islam well. Otherwise, you will not seek the opinions of just about anyone in order to please yourself. You have to look for those who know the Quran well, and seek them out. See, if someone who knows Al-Quran Al-Karim well gives you a legal opinion (fatwa) according to the provisions that are set forth by the Quran, then that legal opinion (fatwa) is that of Allah. This is permitted on the condition that he truly knows Al-Quran Al-Karim and the Sunnah well.
Now, according to the 125th verse of Surah al-Nisa [4], “To have Islam and iḥsān (benevolence).” That is, the people who give legal opinion (fatwa) must be complete Muslims, and they need to have iḥsān (benevolence). Now, what does iḥsān mean? Well, it means to worship as though you see Allah, and to master the knowledge (ilm). Otherwise, the legal opinion (fatwa) of those who can’t hear what they say, who imitate others, who imitate the imitations, who are under the influence of others and give their opinions as legal opinion (fatwa), who seek to polish the apple for the Westerners or Easterners, who seek to flatter the wrong (bātil) systems and its bureaucrats, who give false and fake legal opinion (fatwa) are not considered valid at all. Those are nothing but words of crocked people. Their words have no correlation whatsoever with the Quran, but they speak in the name of Islam by using the Quran. So, beware of them, and be careful while distinguishing between those who truly know and these imposters! Abide by those who truly know! See the fourteen-hundred-year history, all the mujtahid âlims, and the Islamic scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah wa’l-Jama’ah. They have understood these so well, and preserved them up to this day. They understood Al-Quran Al-Karim well. They understood the Sunnah well. They understood the religion that Prophet Muhammad brought forth perfectly, and they have brought the way of Ahlus-Sunnah to this day, and they have been rejecting the evil innovations (bid’ah) ever since. They have denied ahlul bid’ah. So, bear this in mind! That said, do you know what got mixed into ahlul bid’ah? The philosophies got mixed in, the wrong (bātil) got mixed in, Buddhism got mixed in, Hinduism got mixed in, the Buddha got mixed in, the Dalai Lama got mixed in, the Greek philosophies got mixed in, and Greek mythology got mixed in. There are those who are influenced by these, and they are trying to deceive you with false legal opinion (fatwa) in the name of Islam and tariqah (school). So, be wary of those as well!
Time Stamp: 25:20
This happens by drawing conclusions from the religious sources, and this empowers the iman. Those who cannot draw conclusions from the religious sources cannot give legal opinion (fatwa). They need to have through knowledge of the religion so that they may draw conclusions from the sources. See, a man denies the Islamic scholars (âlims), and summons the real Islamic scholars (âlims) to do his bidding; or says, “Take out the ones that are between the servant (qul) and Allah,” and when you take them out, he puts his own opinions, and thinks he has said something useful. He picked up a truth, and tries to beat the other truths with eat, tries to destroy the other truths. See, there are rascals who pick up a truth and use it to destroy the others, who strive for this and think what they are doing is right. There are also impostors who claim that the wrong (bātil) things are actually right (haqq), and vice versa. There are impostors who consider themselves intellectuals. So, be wary of them as well. We have no word against individuals, but we have a score to settle with the wrongs. We need to defend the rights against the wrongs altogether. See, all of the sacred truths and rights of Al-Quran Al-Karim are obvious, and the sunnah (tradition) is obvious, the Islam that our Prophet implemented is obvious, the Islam that our mujtahids brought to this day is obvious.
If someone is calling people to himself and trying to show himself while all these are obvious, then there is a danger. See, he calls people to himself, but nobody cares about him. Why? Because he is cutting the branch he is sitting on, he is burning his own house, and considers himself a man. He is ruining people, ruining himself at most. He also ruins those who he can deceive, even if that is a single person, for even a single person is still a person, and it is such a pity. The religion of Islam does not want anyone to lose anything as much as the hair on a date seed. And those who are Muslims cannot and should not want anyone to lose anything. They ruin themselves. You should speak what is right and real in a sincere manner. A wise man filters it through his logic and conscience and pick what is right, and neglect what is wrong. If he is not picking what is right, then it is up to him, but we are obliged to do work correctly. “There are those who seek to empower their selfish desires,” beware of this! “They either don’t ask for legal opinion (fatwa),” pay attention now. We’re talking about those who seek to empower their own desires, they seek a legal opinion (fatwa) that will conform to their will. They will either not ask for legal opinion (fatwa), or choose their muftis from incapable candidates, choose them from apple-polishers and those who teach cheats and tricks. They do this so that they may receive the legal opinion (fatwa) that suits their own desires and their enjoyment. That is atheism, that is most certainly not something a Muslim would do. See, what these apple-polishers do, and those who seek out the apple-polishers, and those who give legal opinion (fatwa) through cheats and tricks, and those who give legal opinion (fatwa) without knowing their incapability, and those who seek them and request legal opinion (fatwa) that will suit their own desires, all of these are completely misguided people who are astray. So, pay utmost attention to these people!
He says, “Those who seek to empower their own desire either do not ask for legal opinion (fatwa), or they pick their mufti out of incapable people, the apple-polishers, or those who teach tricks, and they run away from those who speak the truth.”

Sawdah bint Zam’ah (r.a.) had left her turn to Aisha for he feared she may be divorced. This comes as a side note because the current topic is about women. Now, in this case we say that individuals know what is with them better than anyone, whether it might be a man or a woman, they may do what is right and what is necessary in a legitimate way. That is exactly what our mother Sawdah did. He had left her turn to Aisha because Aisha was young and our mother Sawdah had become old. However, this is her own opinion, otherwise the Messenger of Allah does not wrong anyone ever. He has not wronged anyone, nor he could. He is the chosen servant (qul) of Allah. He is an infallible Messenger, and the Messengers do not have the option to commit sins. That said, Prophet Muhammad is the Greatest Prophet.
Now, about a woman and a man: A woman may do somethings to pull the man to herself such as making a reduction in dowry (mahr) or her turn. She may forgive or give away something. If the man accepts, then there is no sin. This is bound to the intimacy between them because every man wants to make her wife happy, and every woman wants to make her man happy, and this can be both materially and spiritually, both can be done within the realm of possibility. As for those who do not have the means to do so, nobody can request something from someone which they can’t afford. As for infaq or spending, and taking turns with wives in bed, you must deal the wives justly, and provide them with sustenance, clothing, and a place to live, and give their nafaqa. You must also equate the intimacy in bed. You must speak with them, have good time, and satisfy them spiritually, and be good to them. These are the obligations and duties that men must fulfil for their women. A man must not be stingy in goodness, meaning you should continue doing favours to the extent of your ability, but do not ever be stingy! If you wish to make your spouse happy, do not hesitate if you have the means. Do not withhold love, and do not withhold anything material or spiritual from her. Try to make your wife and your children happy, observe the balance, and do this is in a prudent manner. If you are prudent, then you’ll give them character. That way you’ll not distort anyone’s character. But if you’re not prudent, then the personalities of the children will be distorted. See, especially with children, if you want to develop their personality, you have to love them prudently, without spoiling them, according to the measures, and without making them abandon hope, and without demoralising them. You have to make them develop their personality and observe the balance. Family is a state, and administering this state well is up to the husband and the wife. If the mother and the father have developed personality, then there is a clear opportunity for the children to develop their character as they mature.
Mā – Lā – Yuṭāḳ = unbearable offer.
Now, what should you do in terms of love and justice? You have to do your utmost. Now, about the matter of love and the matter of dealing justly, you must not withhold what you can do. Now, about the word, “elyak,” or “elyak-ı layıka”, it means that you must prefer what is best to what is good. That is, if there is a good option and there is an even better option, then do the even better one. People deserve it, your wife deserves it, and if you are a woman then your husband deserves it. The husbands and the wives should not withhold this from each other. Ladies and gentlemen, do not withhold this from each other! If there is something good and there is something even better, then choose the even better option. Do your utmost, and try to do better.
Now, some women object to second marriage, but let the man do all types of mischief but they don’t want their husbands to marry a second woman, this is straight-up a great cruelty.
Time Stamp: 35:55
That is objecting Islam. That is objecting the laws of Allah, and the innate nature (fitrah). Bear this in mind! Some say he may do all types of mischief but don’t marry, but this is a great cruelty upon the wife herself. That is cruel upon the husband as well. One must not make himself fall into exaggeration. One should review the conditions thoroughly, and settle the matter amicable, measurable, and justly. Otherwise, acting improperly and knocking the relationship down will not benefit anyone. If you observe the divine measures, on the other hand, both sides will benefit, and they will not lose their happiness. See, one should not try to prevent second marriage when it is compulsory, for example for preventing zinā (unlawful sexual relation). You see, one of situations that make it compulsory is to prevent zinā (unlawful sexual relation) from happening. In that case, do not do zinā, but do what is halal instead, on the condition that you’ll deal justly to all wives both financially and spiritually. Those who fear they can’t deal justly will have to confine themselves to one wife. Having two or more wives happens through imperative state of affairs. When? If there is a danger of committing zinā.
Some say, go to strip clubs, go to whorehouses, and go here and there but do not take make a second marriage. Al-Quran Al-Karim disagrees, and says you should avoid zinā, and the religion of Islam has given the permit for a second marriage if you deal justly. There is a permit for that, there is a divine permission, and it is not forbidden. But nobody forces you to make a second marriage either.
Now, there is this hadith about those who have two wives, and it is narrated by Al-Nasā’ī. He says if a husband fully inclines towards one wife, then he will be brought to the Day of Judgment with his one side crocked. Meaning, his one side will be crocked, and he will come by crawling. Why? You see, the situation is dire if you take two wives and show love to one and neglect the other. That is why a second marriage is not something every brave fellow can go through, for he has to be a real man, and a real Muslim.
The hodja is reciting the original text of the following hadith.
He says, “He who has two wives and is fully inclined towards one will be brought to the Day of Judgment with one of his sides crocked.” We need to pay attention to this! It is for this reason that a Muslim who is strictly bound to Almighty Allah cannot love one and be cruel on the other, he cannot simply take one and push back the other. He must comply with their rights by observing equality.
Time Stamp: 40:08
That is why pay attention to this hadith.
The hodja is reciting the original text of the aforementioned hadith.
Pay attention to this! Remember (dhikr) Allah often. Stick to Allah, and don’t you ever do wrong to anyone. Praise Allah, for we all shall praise and thank Allah for every bounty or nimat Allah has ever given to us. You may have one good wife, or two, praise and thank Allah for them as well. Allah is worthy of praise, and has attributes that are worth praise. Allah should be praised, for Allah deserves praise.
You see, if you truly praise and thank Allah for all the bounties or nimat that Allah has given to you, then you’ll have a blissful time with your family, and you’ll see the grace and generosity of Allah. However, if you’re showing ingratitude instead of gratitude, and you are being cruel on one wife, and you are distorting the justice, then you’ll never find peace.
That said, in the 133rd verse of Surah al-Nisa [4], and in the 38th verse of Surah Muhammad [47]: “If you turn away,” meaning “If you don’t fulfil the commands of Allah Ta’ala, and if you don’t do what is necessary in terms of faith (iman) and good deeds (amal-e-saleh), and if you don’t ensure justice,” it is said that “Allah will replace you with other people,” and erase you and remove you from the world, “and they will not be like you.
See, “Allah will replace you with other people, and they will not be like you.” Look at the history for example, there have been many people who were erased from history, and others took their place. There are those who obey, and those who don’t. Janâb-i Haqq removed those who don’t. For example, Janâb-i Haqq erased the People of Nūh (Noah), why? They did not obey Prophet Nūh (Noah), and they did not implement the sharia (law) he brought. Then, Allah also erased the People of Hud, for they did not derive a lesson. Allah removed them from the face of the earth. Then, Allah erased the People of Salih. Allah also destroyed Nimrod, and the People of Shuʿayb. As for People of Lut, Allah destroyed them by making rocks rain down upon them, and replaced them with others. Then, Allah destroyed the Pharaohs as well. Allah destroyed many tyrants. Allah made the Pharaohs of the time who stood against Prophet Muhammad, along with people like Abu Jahl and the imperialist powers of the world bow down to Prophet Muhammad, and Islam came to this day by ruling the world for 14 centuries. Even today, we see the situation of humanity. Janâb-i Haqq warns from the land, from the heavens, from the oceans, and from everywhere. Says, “I am warning you, otherwise think about what will befall you.” “If I wish,” says Allah, “I am not destroying all of you at once for the sake of Muhammad, for you are his ummah, but I will continue to ruin you from time to time,” and most certainly does. See what happened in the İzmit earthquake. See the tidal waves. See Hurricane Katrina. See Hurricane Rita. There are many other examples too. There are many examples, it is as if every day a part of the world is struck by a disaster, and somewhere is ruined. What are these? These are warnings of Allah to us servants (qul). Those who neglect the warnings, who turn a deaf ear to them, those who don’t accept the Quran, the Sunnah, and Islam will have to bear the consequence that will come from Allah, so they should be ready. Allah will not let anyone go free with the cruelty they have inflicted. Allah has never let anyone get away with something, and will never do.

See, when these verses revealed, our Prophet put his blessed hand on the back of Salman al-Farsi and said, “See, Allah will bring forth a people,” and he pointed out to the people of Salman al-Farsi. You see, Salman al-Farsi is Turkish. This way, our Prophet indicated that the Turks will become Muslims and they will be of great service to Islam. This is an indication about the Turks here. You see, he said that that people are his people. Now, there is Al-Alusi regarding the source of the narration. There is Al-Alusi, and this narration is present also in Rūh al-Ma’ānī.
That said, Al-Imam Al-Azam said, “He who says, ‘I do not know whether Allah is in the heavens or on earth,’ becomes a disbeliever (kāfir). He also said, “He who says, ‘Allah is on the ʿArsh (the Throne), but I don’t know whether the ʿArsh (the Throne) is in the heavens or on earth,” is also similar. Al-Imam Al-Azam said this in Fiqh al-Akbar. Now this here is a side note, and it is about itiqad or creed. Allah has encompassed all the worlds. Allah exists, and is present. There is no end of Allah’s Might. Allah is attributed with perfect attributes (sifāt). Almighty Allah Ta’ala, who encompasses the worlds from inside and outside knows about Allah’s own Being. However, we only know Allah through Allah’s names and attributes (sifāt), through the Book, and the creatures that Allah created. However, we also know about Allah’s unparalleled Might.
Now, Al-Imam Al-Azam said, “He who says, ‘I do not know whether Allah is in the heavens or on earth,’ becomes a disbeliever (kāfir).” He also said, “He who says, ‘Allah is on the ʿArsh (the Throne), but I do not know whether the ʿArsh (the Throne) is in the heavens or on earth,’ is also similar.” The source of this narration is Fiqh al-Akbar, and Fiqh al-Awsad.
It is possible you’ll encounter this narration when you go through these sourcebooks. Another narration says that a group of rabbis had visited our Prophet and said, “We believe in you, your Book, Musa (Moses) and Torah, and Uzair. But we will not accept the others.” Our Prophet said, “No, you need to believe in all.” They said, “We will not,” and then these verses revealed. Which verses? Well, look at the 135th to 147th verses of Surah al-Nisa [4]. Now, the belief or iman as we call it is a whole. You need to believe in Islam as a whole. If Al-Quran Al-Karim gave certain news regarding the past or the future, then you have to believe in all of them. You have to believe in all Prophets. You have to believe in all holy books. Islamic faith or iman encompasses all of them, it is a whole. Islam started with Adam, and it is the name of the only religion that will continue to exist until the Last Day. The religion of all Prophets is Islam. Iman is one in all Prophets. There aren’t any differences between the Prophets in terms of iman. The essential of faith (iman) are the same in all of them. There is no such thing like this Prophet has five articles of faith (iman) while the other one has six, they are all the same. All Prophets have confirmed the prophethood of all Prophets. All Prophets have confirmed that all holy books are holy books, and they declared faith and abided by new sharia (law). The newest one is the Islamic sharia (law), and the sharia (law) of entire humanity is the Islamic sharia (law), which is the sharia (law) of Prophet Muhammad, and this will go on until the Last Day.
Time Stamp: 50:05
Expressing this in any other way means defying Islam. See, this is what our Prophet said to a group of rabbis. What did the group of rabbis say? They said, “We believe in you,” meaning they said to Muhammad, “We believe in you, and we believe in your book, the Quran. We also believe in Musa (Moses) and Torah, and Uzair. However, we deny Isa (Jesus) and the Bible,” and they also denied the other Prophets. Our Prophet said, “No.” Do you know what he said? “You shall believe in all of them,” said our Prophet. Then these verses were revealed once they said, “No, we won’t.”
See, they became Muslims, and renounced their wrong opinion, for even denying a single one of them meant denying Allah. Just like we said before, the one who declines the messenger actually declines the one who sends him. The messenger has a duty, but there is someone who sent the messenger. See, it is Allah who sent every Messenger. If you are denying a Messenger, then you are denying Allah, just so you know. That is why we say the Islamic iman or creed encompasses all values of the past and future. Islam incorporates all essentials of iman (faith) into its structure, and its sharia (law) is brand-new, for it renewed the past.
Friends, this is one of the matters that we need to pay close attention to in order to die with iman (faith) in terms of itiqad or creed.

– The End –
