Al-Quran Al-Kareem – Tafsir (Exegesis) Lesson 329

On the 90th to 99th verses of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

I seek shelter in Allah from the rejected Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Hodja recites the 90th verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

Excuse makers from the Bedouins came so that they may be given permission. The ones who lied to Allah and the Messenger sat back. A painful punishment will afflict the ones who are disbelievers (kāfir) among them.”

See, people got used to deceiving each other, and they assumed they could deceive the Prophet as well. They assumed they could deceive Allah as well. Never, never in ever. The hearts of disbelievers (kāfir), hypocrites (munafiq), and polytheists (mushrik) are like that, and their minds (aql) have been taken capture by their nafs (soul).

Hodja recites the 91st verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

“There is no sin on the weak, the sick, or the needy who have nothing to give if they stay behind from the fight provided that they admonish in the name of Allah and the Messenger.”

They have valid excuses, but what does Janâb-i Haqq want from them? Allah wants them to admonish the society where they stay, and warn and alert the society, and do not stay behind in terms reaching out the Islamic message (tabligh). So, it means that Janâb-i Haqq wants those who are excused and can do it to admonish the whole of humankind starting with their closest ones and reach out the truth (tabligh) to people. Allah says that people with valid excuses who stayed behind from the jihad should do it.

“There is no blame on the good-doers. Allah is ghafūr (forgiving), and rahīm (merciful).”

Besides, people should do what they can afford because Almighty Allah does not want what they cannot afford from people.

Moreover, our Almighty Rabb commanded the following.

Hodja recites the 92nd verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

“Nor is there any blame on those who came to provide them with a mount, and you said, ‘I cannot find a mount for you,’ and they turned back with their eyes overflowing with tears of grief that they could not find anything to spend for this cause.”

See, these people were to join the fight, but they lack the equipment. They want to go to jihad, they were desirous of it, but they wanted a mount and whatever is necessary for fight to be supplied to them, but they could not join the jihad because these could not be supplied. See, their eyes were overflowing with tears because they could not go to jihad. See, the heroic fighters (mujahid) are those who are on the fronts, but those who have striven to go to the front are also fighters (mujahid). They would have gone if they had the means, but those who could not go because they lacked the means are also heroes and fighters (mujahid).

Now, let us see what Janâb-i Haqq says after announcing these.

Time Stamp: 5:40

Hodja recites the 93rd verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

“Blame lies on those who ask permission from you to stay behind even though they are rich.”

See, these are the people to blame because their financial situations are good, and they have the equipment necessary for fight. They have everything, but they run away from jihad. They do not march forth. Janâb-i Haqq says the following.

Hodja recites a part of the 93rd verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

“They preferred to be with those who stay behind.”

See, they stayed back from jihad.

“Allah has sealed their hearts. They do not know what shall happen to them anymore.”

Had humankind knew what shall happen to them in the world, in the grave, and in the great gathering (mahshar), they would not have fallen into that situation. So, what did Janâb-i Haqq do? It is said that Janâb-i Haqq sealed their hearts. These people ran away from jihad. When a person runs away from jihad, it means that he has destroyed all exalted values, and he himself was also destroyed. That is why jihad is the most exalted pinnacle of Islam. Allah has sealed the hearts of those who stayed back from jihad even though they had means. Janâb-i Haqq says they do not know what will happen to them. That is, says that so many things will happen to them. The way of salvation and bliss is to do whatsoever Allah (c.c.) wants from us in Al-Quran Al-Karim as is due, we should do these properly and willingly to the extent of our ability.

Hodja recites the 94th verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

Exalted Rabb has said the following in this verse of the Quran.

“They will make excuses to you when you return to them from the fight. Say, ‘Do not make excuses. We absolutely do not believe you. Allah has informed us of the news about you. Allah and the Messenger will see that which you do. Then, you shall be returned to Allah, the knower of the seen and the unseen. You will answer in the greater court in the presence of Allah. Then, you will be informed of what you used to do one by one.”

Everyone should watch their step! People should put their lifespan, each breath, and every moment to beneficial use because everyone will be brough to account. Everyone will be asked about Al-Quran Al-Karim. They will be asked whether they have done deeds according to Al-Quran Al-Karim and the sharia (law) of Islam. Everyone will be asked whether they obeyed and worshipped Allah Ta’ala. One by one, everyone will be brought to account according to Al-Quran Al-Karim. They will be asked about Al-Quran Al-Karim. There is no other law in the great gathering (mahshar), there are Allah’s laws of Islam. That is why everyone should watch their step and be oriented towards being good Muslims.

Time Stamp: 10:40

Hodja recites the 95th verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

Janâb-i Haqq says the following in this verse of the Quran.

They will swear by Allah before you when you will go back to them, so that you turn away from them (so that you may back down from bringing them to account). So, turn away from them for they are liars, impostors, and deserters of jihad, for they are truly loathsome people. They are unclean. Their intentions are unclean. Their thoughts are unclean. Their hearts have been corrupted. That is why they are loathsome people. Their destination as punishment of what they did is surely jahannam.

Hypocrites (munafiq) do not go to janna. Polytheists (mushrik) do not go to janna. Disbelievers (kāfir) do not go to janna. As for the iman (faith), it is the one that Islam brings forth. There is no valid iman (faith) other than that.

Janâb-i Haqq says the following.

Hodja recites the 96th verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

“They swear to you so that you may be pleased with them.”

See, they swear lying oaths.

“If you are pleased with them,” and faithful Muslims are being addressed here. Back then, the Muslims who lived in the Era of Bliss were being addressed in the person of Hz. Muhammad. Today, we are all being addressed in the person of Hz. Muhammad and the Quran. “If you are pleased with these hypocrites, then know that Allah will definitely not be pleased with the fāsiq people.”

Almighty Allah says, “I am not pleased with them.” So, even if the world is pleased with them, it is no use because Allah is not pleased. It will not help even if the world applauded them. That said, if the world spoke out against a faithful person, even if the whole word condemned a believer, and claim he is evil, it will not bring any harm because when Allah is pleased, it will not bring any harm even if the universe is not pleased. That said, even if the universe applauded someone with whom Allah is not pleased, it will not be of any use. Everyone should get their minds together! Thus, whispering and applauding in vain, applauding sins, applauding polytheism (shirk), disbelief (kufr), and injustice (zulm) are certain signs that a person lacks value, lacks dignity, lacks personality, and has no knowledge of truth and reality (haqq wa haqiqa). See, wrongs or batil cannot be applauded. Zulm or injustice cannot be applauded. Rather, you should applaud people who work for the sake of exalting the word of Allah (iʻlā‐i kalimatullah) under the sovereignty of Allah. Applaud faith (iman), truth (haqq), justice, and supremacy of rights (huquq). Applaud what is for the better good of humankind.

Janâb-i Haqq says the following.

Time Stamp: 15:10

Hodja recites the 97th verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

Almighty Rabb says, “Bedouins are worse in terms of denial and hypocrisy.”

Now, what is referred by bedouins here? Is a bedouin always someone who lives in desert? Rather, those who are deprived of the principles, iman (faith), knowledge (ilm), and learning (irfan) of the Quran; those who have no share of terms of knowledge (ilm) and learning (irfan), who have no share of true justice, those who did not get their share of rights and remedies and supremacy of law (huquq), are all bedouins. It is not necessary to live in a desert to be one, you are to go after knowledge (ilm) and learning (irfan). You are to be cognizant of the glorious Quran which has been sent by Almighty Allah’s presence, and you are to be in Allah’s command, and be enlightened with the light of the Quran, and be enlightened (fayiz) with the enlightenments (fayiz) of Al-Quran Al-Karim and live in the ocean and the climate of the Quran. Even if you live on the 90th floor, have a luxurious life, you are a bedouin if you stand against Allah. You may read all philosophies on earth, but if you stand against Allah and deny Allah, then you are more of a bedouin than bedouins. That is, being a bedouin is not only about living in a desert, a cave, or a mountain. That is why Janâb-i Haqq says, “Among bedouins there are some who consider what they have given a chore, they wait for calamities to befall you, on them be those heinous calamities. Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.”

Today in this modern world bedouinism is in the lead, bigotry is in the lead. Where is bigotry? Those who exploit rights of humankind are modern bedouins. Those who disacknowledge truth (haqq) and law (huquq), those who disacknowledge the Real (al-Haqq) and supremacy of rights (huquq) are modern bedouins. They are worse than others regarding denial and hypocrisy. There are worse modern people, and there are modern bedouins. There are those who kill people in masses and shed blood. There are those who annihilate generations and conduct genocide. Howsoever many terrorists are there in the era, those who disacknowledge human rights and remedies, who disacknowledge Allah, the Messenger, and Allah’s laws are modern bedouins because you cannot even pick a leaf and throw it away arbitrarily in in the justice of Almighty Allah. That leaf was not created for nothing, that flower was not created for nothing, even an ant in this ecosystem was not created for nothing. They all have duties in the ecosystem, and firstly, the most valuable is humankind. Almighty Allah has given value to humans, and created the heavens and the earth, and all the world and its contents for human. That said, Allah created humans so that they may acknowledge Allah Ta’ala, that they may be in Allah’s command, and that they may obey Allah. See, servitude to Allah is sultanship. As for disacknowledging Allah, it is like heading straight down to the depths of jahannam for eternity, and stay therein for eternity, and it is to bring humankind to ruin.

Time Stamp: 20:00

Acknowledge Allah, enter Allah’s command, and live according to the principles of Al-Quran Al-Karim, immortal life is therein. That is why esteemed friends, they are more prone to not knowing the bounds of the decrees (hukm) that Allah has sent down to the Messenger. Now, some of the bedouins have no education, no culture, and there are bedouins that have never seen a school. Some are bedouins due to that. That said, you may educate and teach some of them and they will be upright people, and they have been. In places where the guidance (irshad) and message (tabligh) of the religion (din) of Islam has reached, the bedouins have become so civilized that those who used to throw their grown daughters down into wells and those who buried their grown daughters alive have become the fairest people on earth after they became Muslims. As for the bedouins of the world of today, they are not about killing 1 or 5 daughters, nor do they spare women and children. These kāfir bedouins of this age are killing people in masses. What school or what education-learning are you talking about? Are you educating people to turn them into monsters? Is that why you are educating them? Are you educating these people to kill women and children in masses? What about justice? Where is supremacy of huquq (rights)? The religion (din) of Islam has civilized those savages who used to bury people alive. Iman (faith) touched their hearts. Mercy and love touched their eyes. Those savage bedouins became civilized. Those faithless people became filled to the brim with iman (faith). People without love, compassion, and mercy became filled to the brim with love. Islam has taught justice, civilization, and humanity to the world. Islam brought the command that said, “Read from the cradle to the grave.” However, it brought the civilization of acknowledging the command of Allah Ta’ala, submitting and surrendering to Almighty Allah. It brought being with Allah. What type of civilized life is it, or what type of school or lesson is it that you are bidding killing people unjustly and spreading terror? You are spreading terror. It is terror when others do it, but is it not terror when you do it? You are killing defenceless people unjustly, including women and children, what about that? Torah does not bid that. Bible does not bid that. Al-Quran Al-Karim does not bid that. Isa, Musa, or Muhammad does not command that. Whose servant are you? What monster are you serving now that you have abandoned Allah?

That is why beloved friends, we say may Janâb-i Haqq destine today’s bedouins civilized. May Almighty Allah turn all of today’s savage bedouins to most civilized people through the iman (faith) of Islam, through its exalted justice, and through its endless mercy. May Almighty Allah destine the whole of humankind to attain love, civilization, and mercy, and destine them to meet with reality/haqiqa in the sea of Islam. Islam, Al-Quran Al-Karim, and Hz. Muhammad are humankind’s means of salvation. The mysteries of hidayat (guidance) and salvation are all in Al-Quran Al-Karim. Humankind should explore Al-Quran Al-Karim if they want to be saved for eternity. If they explore and understand Al-Quran Al-Karim well, the whole of humankind will find peace. I say this repeatedly, and Islam is fraternity, love, iman (faith), justice, and supremacy of law (huquq); on top of that, it is supremacy of Almighty Allah’s law (huquq), which is a supernatural and divine supremacy.

Time Stamp: 25:18

Hodja recites the 98th verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

Almighty Rabb says the following in this verse of the Quran.

“There are some among the bedouins who consider what they give as an imposition, and they watch for calamites to befall you.”

The enemies of truth and reality (haqq wa haqiqa), whether they are in deserts, whether they are in mountains, whether they are in schools, madrasas, or universities, if their souls have not been civilized but turned into bedouins instead, then they will expect for the light of truth (haqq) to extinguish, and they await the destruction of the people who are in the way of Allah.

“May those heinous calamities be on them!” says Almighty Allah.

“Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing.”

Islam came for everyone’s salvation, but people of kufr (disbelief) want Islam and Muslims destroyed. That is the cadre of kufr (disbelief), cadre of Iblīs, cadre of zalimun (unjust), and cadre of traitors who have no mercy on humankind.

Janâb-i Haqq says the following.

Hodja recites the 99th verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

“And of the bedouins there are some who believe in Allah and the Day of Judgment.”

See, there are also bedouins in whose hearts the light of iman (faith) shine. They were present back then, and they are present now as well. There are faithful bedouins today as well. Every era has its contemporary bedouins. Every era has its modern, faithful and civilized people. So, Janâb-i Haqq says that there are those who believe in Allah and the Day of Judgment in whose hearts the light of iman (faith) shine, and they consider what they spend as a means of nearness to Allah, and as a means of receiving the Prophet’s invocations.

That is, they spend, believe, and perform worship to earn the pleasure (riza) of Allah, to earn the pleasure of the divine (riza-e-ilahi).

“Indeed, it is a source of nearness for them.”

See, these are ways getting close to Allah. This is an endeavour to attain the pleasure (riza) of Allah, and for the mysteries of wuslat (ultimate meeting).

“Allah will admit them to mercy (rahmat).”

Without a doubt, Allah is forgiving, and merciful.

Allah will admit them into mercy/rahmat).

Hodja recites a part of the 99th verse.

Allah is ghafūr (forgiving), rahīm (merciful).”

Janâb-i Haqq is the One who forgives, and there is no end to Allah’s mercy (rahmat) and graces (lutf). There is no end to Allah’s forgiveness either.

Al-Quran Al-Kareem – Tafsir (Exegesis) Lesson 330

On the 100th to 110th verses of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

I seek shelter in Allah from the rejected Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Hodja recites the 100th verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

As for those who entered Islam primarily among Emigrants (Muhājirīn) and Supporters (Ansar), and those who followed them with good-deeds, Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Allah, and Allah has prepared for them gardens (jannah) beneath which rivers flow, they will abide therein forever. That is the great and magnificent salvation.

Esteemed friends, first entourage and companions of our exalted and glorious Prophet (asw) has been the emigrants (muhājirīn) and the supporters (ansar). These people are Islam’s greatest pioneering shining stars. They are certainly companions of janna, and those who followed them are also like that. It has been clearly stated by Almighty Allah that Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Allah.

The glory of the emigrants (muhājirīn) and the supporters (ansar) are remarkably high, and these are revered figures who have earned the highest degrees (daraja). They have devoted themselves to protecting our Prophet’s life and every possession of our Prophet the way they protect their own lives and possessions, and this was in Islam’s birth on earth. They have never left our Prophet even in the hardest and most dangerous days. These revered figures have revolved around our Prophet. Radeyallahu anhum wa ardahum ajmain.

Immediately say, “Radeyallahu anhu” if you hear the name of one of them. If it is a woman, then say, “anhā,” and if is more than one man, then say “anhum wa ardahum,” and if it is more than one woman, then say, “anunna”.

That is, remember them like this and do not neglect.

Say “radeyallahu anhum wa ardahum ajmain” repeatedly, we should remember and pray for these revered figures in this way. They are primarily among the stars in the sky that shine, they are the pioneering shining stars. They are the emigrants (muhājirīn) and the supporters (ansar). These are the companions or ashab of Hz. Muhammad. Those who follow their path are also among them. Tābi’ūn, Tabi‘ al-Tabi’in, and those who follow this path until us, and from us to the last day are called Ahlus-Sunnah wa’l-Jama’ah and Firqa Najiyah. It has been said that Hz. Muhammad’s ummah will be 73 groups, one of which will enter janna, and it has been said that others are in the fire. That group is this one, the path of those who follow the path of Hz. Muhammad, his companions (ashab) the Tābi’ūn, and Ahlus-Sunnah. See, the wayfarers of that path are called Ahlus-Sunnah wa’l-Jama’ah.

Time Stamp: 5:05

Firqa Najiyah or saved school is those who get Islam right, who live it right, and who explain it right. See, the ecoles or schools of 4 madhabs are linked to that, and all mujtahid schools in the 4 madhabs have taken inspiration from that, including all our Islamic scholars (âlim). There are those who are considered ahlul bid’ah (deviant innovators), but we do not adopt the bid’ah (deviant innovation) aspects of ahlul bid’ah (deviant innovators). With that said, their correct aspects are also with us. Their right aspects are with us, but we do not adopt their wrongs because there are madhabs of ahlul bid’ah which are out of ahlus-sunnah. They are studying in the wrong school, receiving wrong education. They couldn’t get Al-Quran Al-Karim right, and the Kharijites are among these. Those who deny fate (qadar). Also, those who are like Murji’ah. That said, there are also many deviant branches of Shia. There are some that are close to Ahlus-Sunnah and Ahlul Bayt who are right. With that said, Ahlul Bayt is completely Sunni. Now, what does Sunni mean? It means those who follow the way of the Prophet and perform the sunnah (customs). Can there be Ahlul Bayt without the Prophet? Can there be Ahlul Bayt without Al-Quran Al-Karim? The real Ahlul Bayt is those who continue in the way of Al-Quran Al-Karim, Muhammad, and Ahlus-Sunnah. Then again, no matter who he is, those who are not in the way of Al-Quran Al-Karim can neither be Muslims nor Ahlul Bayt. That is why Prophets teach the exalted values that Allah Ta’ala brings forth in the world, and they the uswa hasana (an excellent model of conduct), pioneer, and example is the Prophet. Hz. Muhammad has taught and settled Islam in his companions (ashab), the emigrants (muhājirīn), the supporters (ashab), and all Muslims around him.

You are to understand the Quran like Hz. Muhammad’s understanding of the Quran. The companions (sahabah) have understood it well, and most of them are mujtahids, and it is an obligation of every Muslim to follow this path in the way of these revered figures with an Islamic understanding with knowledge (ilm), learning (irfan), and with proofs and documents. This path is called Firqa Najiyah and Ahlus-Sunnah wa’l-Jama’ah. This means those who follow the way of our Prophet and his companions (ashab). See, that is the firqa (group) of Ahlus-Sunnah wa’l-Jama’ah, and this also means Sunnism. Sunnism means being in the way of the Prophet and in the way of our Prophet’s sunnah (customs). Now, another meaning of sunnah is “way”, it also means the laws of Allah or Adatullah. That said, there are also special sunnahs which are creed-related, deed-related, morals-related, and law-related. So, what are we doing today? There are also muakkadah sunnah, non-muakkadah sunnah, and at the same time there are degrees of sunnah. There are qawl-i sunnah, fiil-i sunnah, and taqrīr-i sunnah.

Now, qawl-i sunnah is the words of our Prophet.

Fiil-i sunnah is the deeds of our Prophet.

Taqrīr-i sunnah is things our Prophet accepted in silence and did not object.

That is why Hz. Ali and the 12 Imams along with Ahlul Bayt are all in our Prophet’s way of sunnah, and they are in Al-Quran Al-Karim’s way. These are all esteemed and grand figures. It is surely wrong to portray these figures as though they are apart from the way of Ahlus-Sunnah and the Quran. That said, accepting Ali without the Quran is also wrong because there is no Ali without the Quran, and there is no Ali without Muhammad.

Time Stamp: 10:00

Nobody can be in the way of Ahlul Bayt by neglecting the Quran, sunnah, ijma, qiyas, knowledge (ilm), and learning (irfan), nor can there be a love of Ali, nor can there be iman (faith), nor can there be a love of the 12 imams. Hz. Ali was a revered figure who knew and practiced Al-Quran Al-Karim’s meaning, knowledge (ilm), and learning (irfan). He was a revered figure who devoted every fibre of his being to the way of Allah. He was among the greatest Islamic scholars/âlims, heroes, and greatest fighters/mujāhidīn of the world. With that said, he is also the son-in-law of Hz. Muhammad, and a close relative of his, meaning Ali is Muhammad’s uncle’s son. That is why Hassan, Hussain, and all the 12 imams, radeyallahu anhum wa ardahum ajmain, they are all wayfarers of knowledge and learning. They know Islam and Al-Quran Al-Karim. So, to get them right you need to know the Quran. For if you know the Quran then you will get Hassan and Hussain right. If you neglect the Quran, and if you accept the slanders of Jews and the Zion against the Quran, an if you accept that the betrayals that have been done to the Torah and the Bible have also been done to the Quran as well, meaning if you accept that the Quran has been changed, then your way is not the same as the way of Ali or Wali. The Quran has not been changed, and it will never be changed for it is the last book. Those who claim Al-Quran Al-Karim has been changed are those who have swollen the poison given by the archenemies of the iman (faith) and Islam. That is why we say Ali, Wali, Hassan, Hussain, radeyallahu anhum wa ardahum ajmain, and all 12 imams are valuable figures. There may be differences of ijtihad among them, but they are all Sunnis, they are in the way of sunnah. Sunnism means the way of the Prophet, the way of sunnah. Did Hz. Ali abandon the way of the Prophet and invent a different way for himself? Who has the right to portray Sunnism and Alawism as separate things? Every Sunni loves Hz. Ali, and every Ahlul Bayt is already Sunni. So, there is no separation here. What is the source of separation then? It is ignorance, now knowing the Quran, and not knowing the sunnah, and not knowing the way of Ali, Hassan, and Hussain. What is that way? You are to know the Quran, sunnah, and ijma correctly. Only then you are in the way of Muhammad because Hz. Ali and Ahlul Bayt were in the way of Hz. Muhammad. They were in the way of Al-Quran Al-Karim. A person can neither be a Sunni nor be in the way of Ali or Wali by neglecting Al-Quran Al-Karim, considering harams halals, and considering halals haram because there is only one way, not 500, just one. That is the way of Allah and Islam, which is by following the way of the Prophet, knowing the Quran, sunnah, ijma, and qiyas, and studying the essential sources of Islam by means of scholarship (ilm). Ja’far al-Sadiq is a revered and esteemed figure who is a learned person (allāma). He is also a great Islamic scholar (âlim), and at the same time there is no differences of ijtihad between him and Al-Imam Al-Azam. So, who drives a wedge between these two? It is the anti-Islamic powers that want to drive a wedge between Muslims. We should not rise to the bait.

It is an endeavour of Zionism and enemies of Islam to associate a matter that occurred between Umayyads and Alawites with Sunnis. Otherwise, the scar left by what happened to Ali, Hassan, Husain, and the events of Battle of Karbala is still bleeding in the hearts all Sunnis who have iman/faith in them. There cannot be any Sunni who does not love Hz. Hussain. With that said, there cannot be an Alawi who neglects Sunnism because Sunnism is the way of the Prophet.

Time Stamp: 15:15

Let us be upright and speak the truth. If you don’t know the Quran, don’t know the sunnah, invent false things and adhere to some place blindly, then you cannot call this Sunnism or Alawism. Islam is not in someone’s monopoly. Islam is the principles that have been brought forth by Al-Quran Al-Karim and Hz. Muhammad. Whatsoever came to Hz. Muhammad have all been sent down personally by Almighty Allah. Islam is the set of divine laws that have been sent down to Hz. Muhammad. As for its core and constitution, it is Al-Quran Al-Karim. Thus, there cannot be a Muslimship by neglecting the Quran, and there cannot be a way of Ahlul Bayt or a way of Muhammad either. In that event you will have fallen into the betrayal of those who have betrayed the Bible. You will have fallen into the betrayal of those who betrayed the Torah. You will have toppled down into the same misguidance (dalalah). Is it not a shame? While there is such a unique and divine book of guidance at hand, while there is Al-Quran Al-Karim which is Allah’s utterance (kalam), and while there is authentic sunnah at hand, while there are all these documents, where do this duality come from? It comes from ignorance and deception of some people. Some people obtain income, and others gather around him, and they are straight-up close to knowledge (ilm). So, what do they do without knowledge (ilm) and learning (irfan)? They start pontificating, and about the discursion in the world; and ignorance in Islam stoke up discursion. There is no ignorance in Islam. Islam came to remove ignorance from the face of the earth. So, without knowing Al-Quran Al-Karim and having knowledge (ilm) and learning (irfan), and without going to the school or madrasa of this, and without receiving the education and learning of this, and without graduating from the school of people who have noble licenses of competence in knowledge (ilm), nobody can pontificate in dark rooms according to his whim. That is why Islam is knowledge (ilm) and learning (irfan) from a to z.

Esteemed friends, we are all servants (qul) of Allah. So, let us tell each other the truth, and let us unite in the truth. The source of truth, and its centre is Al-Quran Al-Karim and Hz. Muhammad, both of which are bound to Allah Ta’ala. That is why we should tell each other the truths. Most valuable medicine has bitter taste inside, but they are coated in sugar, and we take those medicine knowingly to recover health. We should also say good things to each other, and a friend speaks the harsh truth sometimes. See, a friend speaks the harsh truth sometimes, but we should appreciate each other when what is spoken is healing, beneficial, and real. However, we should speak the truth, and speak with the Quran. That is Muslimship. It is to speak by the Quran, sunnah, ijma, and qiyas. That is, you will either personally know the Quran, or act with those who know. If you don’t know yourself, and you also deny the one who knows, then you are a severely and utterly ignorant, this is what is called jahl al-murakkab. See, he doesn’t know and denies the one who knows. They have no knowledge, and they reject knowledge. That is backwardness and bigotry. You have no knowledge and you do not accept knowledge and learning, there is no such thing. If we do that, then we are behaving wrong against our Prophet, and we are behaving wrong against Ahlul Bayt. We are also behaving utterly wrong against Al-Quran Al-Karim.

Time Stamp: 20:00

On top of that, those who act like this are toppling themselves down into jahannam. Can there be Muslimship without knowledge (ilm) and learning (irfan)? The knowledge (ilm) and learning (irfan) of the worlds/alamin is Islam. The light of the worlds/alamin is Islam. Al-Quran Al-Karim is a place of knowledge (ilm) where the beginningless and endless light shines brightest, and as it came from Allah’s knowledge (ilm), Allah has taken it into personal protection for it is the last book. It is Allah Ta’ala who says that Al-Quran Al-Karim has no chance of being distorted. Do you believe or disbelieve in Allah? If you believe, then Allah says, “I am the guardian of Al-Quran Al-Karim, and nobody has the chance to distort it. I have sent it down. I am protecting it. I am preserving it.”

Hodja recites the 9th verse of Surah al-Hijr [15].

“Surely, We have sent down the Reminder, and surely, We will preserve it.”

Now, let us know the truths and meet the truths from now on, and abandon ignorance.

Astaizu billah.

Hodja recites the 101st verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

Almighty Rabb says the following in this verse.

“There are hypocrites among the bedouins who are around you, and so are some among the people of Madinah who persist in hypocrisy.”

Back then, there were various groups of hypocrites who wanted to lay traps for our Prophet, and Janâb-i Haqq narrates some of them here, and you should recognize other hypocrites in the person of these ones, and Al-Quran Al-Karim is giving you documents for you to read the mental states of hypocrites and recognize them, and take precautions in order to be safe from their evil. Says, “You do not know them,” to even our Prophet. See, there are secret hypocrites, and very secret hypocrites. Allah says, “We know them,” and introduces them to our Prophet. Our Prophet would study in Allah’s school non-stop. He was being schooled by Allah non-stop because verses would always come to him, divine revelation (wahy-i ilahi) would come to him. Hz. Muhammad is a revered figure who studied in the school of Allah. Alaihissalatu wassalam. And thanks, and praises to Allah who sent him. Almighty Allah has granted the greatest blessing to the worlds by sending the Prophet of Mercy. The blessing (nimat) of Islam is the greatest blessing (nimat).

Hodja recites a prayer.

We should thank Allah and be grateful day and night by reciting this.

Janâb-i Haqq says, “We shall punish them twice.”

Hypocrites (munafiq) cannot escape from Allah’s punishment in the world, in the grave, or in the gathering (mahshar). Janâb-i Haqq also says, “Then they shall be driven to a greater punishment.” As you see, there is no salvation because Allah created life, and it is Allah Ta’ala who gives life. It is Allah Ta’ala who takes life and gives life. It is also Allah who gives life to deniers. See, some deny Allah, but Allah makes him live for a specified term, but why? Because this is a trial, so that he may not say, “Allah did not make me live it.”

Hodja recites the 102nd verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

Our Almighty Rabb says the following in this verse of the Quran.

“Some of them confessed their sins, and they have mixed a good deed with an evil deed. Perhaps Allah will accept their repentance (tawbah), for Allah is ghafūr (forgiving), rahīm (forgiving).”

Allah wishes for them to rectify their affairs by granting them a respite here and wishes to forgive them as well.

Hodja recites the 103rd, 104th, and 105th verses of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

Time Stamp: 26:05

“Take sadaqah from their possessions to cleanse them and purify them. Allah also tells our Prophet to recite good prayers concerning those who repented and says “for your prayer comforts their hearts.” Allah is hearing, knowing.

Allah also commands, “Do they not know that Allah accepts the repentance of servants and receives and accepts the sadaqah. Allah is the One who accepts repentances and is most-merciful.”

“And say, ‘Go on working. Allah will see that which you do, as will the Messenger and the believers.”

Hodja recites a part of the 105th verse.

See what Janâb-i Haqq says, “Then, you will be conveyed to the presence of Allah, knower of what is seen and unseen. Allah will then inform you of what you used you used to do.”

You will all be brought to Allah’s presence and give account.

Beloved friends, Janâb-i Haqq commands the following.

Hodja recites a part of the 105th verse.

Hodja recites the 106th verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

Our Almighty Rabb says the following in this verse of the Quran.

“As for the forgiveness of those who stayed behind from the battle and others, they have been deferred to wait Allah’s command. Allah will either punish them or accept their repentance. Allah is alīm (all-knowing), ḥakīm (all-wise).”

Hodja recites the 107th verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

There are those who have built a masjid to await the one who warred against Allah and the Messenger, and to cause harm to Muslims, design plots, lay out traps, stage coups, promote infidelity, and to cause disunity, fitnah-o-fasad (mischief and riot) between Muslims.”

The name of that masjid is Masjid al-Dirar. That is, these hypocrites built a coup centre under the name of masjid, and the secret agents of super-states of that time oversaw them. Hypocrites or munafiq united with them and wanted to scheme secret plots. “They will swear, ‘We desired nothing but good.’.”

Allah has informed Hz. Muhammad (asw) that they will swear lying oaths, as Allah knows everything.

Time Stamp: 30:23

The verse says, “Allah bears witness that they are indeed liars.”

Hodja recites a part of the 107th verse.

“Allah bears witness that they are indeed liars,” just look at this situation.

Esteemed friends, Islam, reader of souls, has wiped out all plots. If today’s Muslims have fallen into this situation, they have fallen and are in misery because they don’t listen or understand Al-Quran Al-Karim. Salvation and ascent, rise to Allah’s presence (Arsh), and finding the eternally blissful life happens by holding fast to Al-Quran Al-Karim, and by exploring Al-Quran Al-Karim. That is to explore Al-Quran Al-Karim, acknowledge Allah’s rulership, and be at Allah’s command. You are to receive every command from Allah, but how? Allah’s every command is written in Al-Quran Al-Karim. The whole of Islam that Hz. Muhammad brought consists of Allah’s commands and laws. Almighty Allah has offered us Islam. So, adhere to Islam, rise, ascent to Allah’s presence (Arsh), otherwise you will be miserable. Come, do not be miserable, hold fast!

Hodja recites a part of the 103rd verse of Surah Ali Imran [3].

Allah Ta’ala says, “Hold fast, altogether.” Says, “Hold fast to Islam, Al-Quran Al-Karim, and My unbreaking cord altogether,” and abandon false gods (taghuts).

Hodja recites the 108th verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

Janâb-i Haqq says, “O Muhammad. Never go into that Masjid al-Dirar. Never pray in it.”

Masjid al-Dirar was built under the name of masjid, and they had built it as an abode of coup to destroy all other mosques and masjids along with the religion (din) and faith (iman) of Islam. They called it a masjid, and Almighty Allah calls it Masjid al-Dirar.

Hodja recites the 108th verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

“O Muhammad! Do not ever stand there in namāz.”

That is, in Masjid al-Dirar.

“A mosque founded on taqwa from the very first day is surely worthier that you stand in it for namāz.”

That masjid is Al-Masjid an-Nabawi and Masjid Qubā. With that said, all masjids in which people believe in Allah Ta’ala with a tawhid iman (monotheism), in which people worship Allah sincerely are masjids that have been founded on taqwa/piety. Primarily is the masjid The Rawdah ash-Sharifah is present, and Masjid Qubā. These are first and foremost, and after          these comes all masjids in the world on the condition that believers only worship Allah in a sincere manner with tawhid/monotheism.  All masjids wherein Al-Quran Al-Karim is narrated and understood in an objective, unmixed, and

unadulterated manner, and people worship by that iman (belief), are all masjids founded on taqwa – piety. It is like that, and the earth has been rendered a masjid for Muhammad’s ummah.

Let us see what Janâb-i Haqq says after announcing this truth.

Surely, masjids founded on taqwa are worthier that you perform namāz in them. Therein are people who love to be purified from their sins. Allah loves those who are purified, clean, and pure in heart.

Time Stamp: 35:30

Hodja recites the 109th verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

“Is he who founds his building on fear of Allah and Allah’s pleasure is better, or he who founded his building on the edge of a crumbling bank, and crumbles down with it into jahannam? Allah does not guide the wrong-doing (zalim) folk.”

See, these verses came. Then, the abode of fitnah and fasad that is called Masjid al-Dirar where they prepared for coup was removed.

Hodja recites the 110th verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

“This type of buildings that they have built, unless their hearts are broken into pieces…”

Hypocrite (munafiq) hearts are like that. The hearts of hypocrites are terrible. The hearts of the vicious enemies of iman (faith), Islam, the Quran, and Muhammad are even worse.

“It will remain as a tangle of nifaq (unrest) unless their hearts are broken into pieces. Allah is alīm (all-knowing),” for Allah knows the hearts, and Allah knows everything. Creator surely knows of the creation. “Allah is ḥakīm (all-wise).” It is Allah who rules howsoever Allah wills. It is Allah, everything about Allah is filled to the brim with wisdom/hikmat.

That is why we say, “May Janâb-i Mawla shield all of us from polytheism (shirk), hypocrisy (nifaq), disbelief (kufr), objection (şikak), and bad morals.” This is one of the invocations (dua) that our Prophet would recite often.

Hodja recites the original text of the invocation (dua).

Another invocation (dua) of his is the following.

Hodja recites the original text of the invocation (dua).

The invocations (dua) of the glorious Prophet sheds light. May Janâb-i Haqq destine us all to be guided (irshad) with the lessons of the life-giving light, to find immortal and blissful life, and to be blissful in both realms.

Al-Quran Al-Karim came for the salvation of the whole of humankind. The mysteries of guidance or hidayat are all in Al-Quran Al-Karim which is the light-shedding sea of light, they are in Islam and the leadership of Muhammad. Alaihissalatu wassalam. We should also strive non-stop to be a servant (qul) to Almighty Allah, to be an ummah (people) to Muhammad, and to be good Muslims. We shall reach out (tabligh) the light to each other, only then will we have worked for the better good of one another.

Al-Quran Al-Kareem – Tafsir (Exegesis) Lesson 331

I seek shelter in Allah from the rejected Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Hodja recites two prayers (duas) consecutively.

Most esteemed and revered audience,

The lessons of the life-giving light continue. Life-Giver is Almighty Allah, and Al-Quran Al-Karim is Almighty Allah’s Book. Islam is the divine order, life order. That is the beginningless/azali and endless/abadi order. Divine order is that of Islam. Allah is One. The life order of Allah, one that gives immortal life, is the order of Allah the One. Don’t you ever seek life anywhere else. Don’t you ever seek happiness anywhere else. Don’t you ever seek light anywhere else! Light is here, life is here, and immortal prosperity, success, and salvation are here. Now, things that they portray you as light other than this are not light but fire. If a person is at someone’s command or worships someone besides Allah Ta’ala who is ascribed with exalted attributes (sifāt), then he is his idol, and he has turned his back on Almighty Allah. To turn your back on Islam, and to turn your back on Al-Quran Al-Karim means you disacknowledge these exalted values. That means you disacknowledge the values that have been brought forth by Allah. That is to disacknowledge Allah Ta’ala. Therefore, not even a single command of Allah can be denied. If it is denied, then there is no iman (faith) therein. That is why it is recorded in the creed (aqidah) and science of discourse (ilm al-kalām) that denying the juzʼ (part) is denying the kull (whole). Just like there is no religion (din) beside Islam, no other iman (faith) is valid except Islamic iman (faith) because Islam is the religion (din) of the Real (al-Haqq). So, the Real (al-Haqq) is Allah Ta’ala. Religions that are other than Allah’s religion (din) are fabrications of people, and you should know that there is only one religion (din) of Allah, which is Islam, the religion (din) of all Prophets. With that said, the books given to Prophets are ones that have been given by Allah. With that said, the fundamentals or amantu of Islam already encompasses all holy books, on the condition that they are approved or tasdiq by Al-Quran Al-Karim and Hz. Muhammad. If you ask why, it is because Al-Quran Al-Karim is the last book that is the witness of the past, it is one that encompasses all signs of future in itself. As for Hz. Muhammad, he is a universal prophet, and he is the prophet of all eras and all nations.

Time Stamp: 5:00

That is why it needs to pass through Al-Quran Al-Karim’s confirmation (tasdiq), and it also needs to pass through Hz. Muhammad’s confirmation (tasdiq). Only then is iman (faith) is that of Hz. Muhammad and the Quran. Islam is a universal religion (din), and just like that the iman (faith) of Islam is also universal. Beginningless (azali) values are in the fundamentals (amantu) of Islam. Everlasting (abadi) values are in the fundamentals (amantu) of Islam. It does not ostracize any Prophet, for there won’t be faith (iman) if it does. It does not ostracize any divine value, for there won’t be faith (iman) if it does. However, you should pay close attention to whose affirmation or tasdiq you are to pass it through. Pay close attention to this! Allah Ta’ala has brought forth the real and universal principles of truth with the Quran, and established them on earth with Hz. Muhammad. For centuries these exalted values have been firmly established in the hearts, souls, memories, hands, tongues, and they have been preserved to this day by individuals, communities, nation, and state. They will always be preserved. Islam and Al-Quran Al-Karim has no chance of being corrupted until eternity. However, people may corrupt themselves. Nobody can corrupt Islam, but he who corrupts himself ruins himself. Those who are taken in and deceived by corrupt ones, and those who deceive others ruin themselves, and they fall into misguidance (dalalah). Those who fall into misguidance, and those who cause misguidance and deviance of others ruin themselves and others. These verses of the Quran here continue to explain us the mental states of hypocrites (munafiq). The most dangerous disbelievers (kāfir) in the world are the hypocrites (munafiq), and they look like Muslim, but they live as disbelievers (kāfir).

Now, our lesson continues with exploration notes on the verses whose meanings we gave you earlier. We are unveiling the exalted verses a little more so that they may be understood better.

You do not know about hypocrites; they wish to rise to the top like oil in water. Most people do not know about hypocrites easily since they look like Muslims. Even our Prophet could not know had Allah (c.c.) not informed him, but Almighty Allah was informing our Prophet of all coup plans that those hypocrites plotted non-stop by means of verses. Now, Al-Quran Al-Karim has been shedding light to humankind until last day (qiyamah). Al-Quran Al-Karim discloses whatsoever there is against peace, tranquillity, fraternity, such as mischief makers who produce fitnah, along with all activities that are unjust and coup-centred. But it shows you the deviancy and misguidance which are against truth, by bringing forth the truth. You should know Al-Quran Al-Karim, and study in Allah’s school. To know the Quran is to study in Allah’s school and get a diploma from Muhammad’s school. So, study Al-Quran Al-Karim and the Sunnah. The whole of exalted knowledges (ilm) that Allah has offered to us are the knowledges (ilm) in the contents of Islam. It is not only about your worship. These knowledges encompass pre-eternity (azal) and eternity (abad). It encompasses all times, heavens and the earth. It wants discovery of cosmological signs (kevni ayat) and textual verses (kitābi ayat). Islamic understanding of worship is not about physical exercise, rather every worship of Islam is more exalted than just a place of education.

Time Stamp: 10:10

It educates you, teaches you, and shows you the morals or akhlaq that are practiced. In Islam, practice is as important as theory. Islamic education and learning, and practiced morals or akhlaq are fundamental in Islam. That is why, you do not know about hypocrites (munafiq), they wish to rise to the top like oil in water. They will suffer a painful punishment in the world and in the grave. They are certainly companions of jahannam in the world and in the afterlife. He who lives as a hypocrite and dies as a hypocrite will surely go to jahannam. However, some of them have confessed their hypocrisy, and they realized what they were and adhered to repentance (tawbah) and seeking forgiveness (istighfar), and they were saved.

That said, hypocrisy or being a munafiq is such an evil trait that once it settles in a person it does not want to get out easily. Not everyone can straighten themselves out, hypocrisy is very bad, and the worst disbeliever (kāfir) is the hypocrite (munafiq), the worst infidel (gavur) is the hypocrite (munafiq). The arch-enmity of humankind comes from it. The worst of illegal and secret evil-powers are from that group, have that trait. Those who regret surely have repented (tawbah) and sought forgiveness (istighfar). Back then in the time of our Prophet, some of the hypocrites (munafiq) tied themselves to the pillars of the masjid, and they were repenting (tawbah). That is how they punished themselves. See, they tied themselves to pillars, and our Prophet had departed for the Expedition of Tabuk. When our Prophet (asw) returned from the Expedition of Tabuk; he would normally perform a two rakʿah namaz in Masjid-e-Saadat, meaning Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, and then return to his home. This was one of his best customs, and he saw people who tied to the pillars of the mosque, they had tied themselves. So, he asked about what that is. They said, “They will not untie themselves until you tie them, they have punished themselves. And they have sworn they will not tie themselves.” Our Prophet (asw) said, “I also swear that I will not untie them unless a forgiveness comes from Allah,” for he is a Prophet (asw), and he acts upon divine revelation (wahy-i-ilahi). The Prophet cannot do anything to anyone by himself, he acts according to Allah’s command. Surely, the Prophet acts upon the verses of the Quran, commands that come from Allah. That said, our Prophet already knew about their situation on his way to the Expedition of Tabuk. Many verses came on the way to the Expedition of Tabuk; therefore, he knew well about their situation. That is why our Prophet also sweared that he will not untie them unless a forgiveness comes from Allah. After all, we can see these realities when we look at the 103rd verse whose meaning we have given. In the end, the 103rd verse came, and they were untied. They wanted to give 1/3 of their wealth to our Prophet as atonement (kefaret) for their sins. Some even wanted to give all their wealth, but our Prophet did not take it. Then, our Prophet took 1/3 of their possessions and distributed it to the poor and the needy. A command came from Janâb-i Haqq, otherwise our Prophet was not going to take anything at all.

Time Stamp: 15:27

A command came from Allah. A verse that says, “take from their possessions,” came, otherwise he was not going to take it.

Hodja recites a part of the 103rd verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9].

The distribution here was relied upon. That is, they wanted to give all their possessions, but our Prophet only took 1/3 of it. What is taken was a special kind of sadaqah (alms) taken as atonement (kefaret). That said, Hasan al-Basri says the following, radeyallahu alaih kuddise sirruh. He says that what is taken from their possessions was a special kind of sadaqah taken as atonement for forgiveness of their mistake. For forgiveness of their fault. As for fiqh âlims, they said this is a zakat (poor-dues).

Now, who were they? They were deserters of war and jihad. They were deserters of jihad who had no excuses and fabricated false excuses. The cause of their desertion was love of wealth. That is why, when it became certain that they were going to be seized by Allah’s wrath and rage because of their possessions, and that they were going to be punished severely, our Prophet said, “I have been commanded to take sadaqah and zakat from the rich of you to give to the poor.”

As they were among those who repented (tawbah) and sought forgiveness (istighfar), they wanted to give their possessions as atonement (kefaret) right away. Besides, there was a strict command of Allah to our Prophet, saying he is to take from the rich and give to the poor. This is Islam, and that is not a blessing of the rich or something, rather it is a definite right of the poor, and the social state is to fulfil its duty. That is why you should never forget that the religion (din) of Islam has brought forth the value of both capital and labour. One cannot act against the other just because. The value, scale, and standards of both are known, and both are valuable. Labour is valuable, and so is the capital. However, you cannot sacrifice the capital for labour, or vice versa. You are to establish balance. Balance of justice, that is Islam. That is why our Prophet said that. He said, “I have been commanded to take sadaqah and zakat from the rich of you to give to the poor.” He was commanded. He was going to do it obligately. Today, those who have the administration are obliged to establish a social state. In a state where the rich lives in the realm of lords while others cannot even find bread, it means that the administrators are not doing their duty. You are to do your duty, the labourer is to work honestly, and take his wage before his sweat dries. That is what the Islamic Prophet of Mercy says. The rich are to give poor-dues, and give the rights of labour, and give zakat and sadaqah as is due. That is Almighty Allah’s definite command. O rich people! Do not devour the rights of the poor! O workers, o poor people! You should also act correctly, patiently, and faithfully in a just manner regarding the position you are in. Only take your right, and do not overstep the bounds of your right!

Time Stamp: 20:18

These balances between the rich and the poor have been established as a complete divine scale by Almighty Allah. Yes, balances were established, but if the administrators do not do their duties for the sake of the rich, and they are watching the persecution on the poor and the needy, then there is no justice but injustice or zulm therein. The obligation of the state is to protect capital while appreciating labour and elbow grease. Justice is to be established, and that is what Islam wants.

“O world’s Muslims! You cannot expect this from non-Muslims, you are to do this if you are a Muslim.”

Al-Darimi is among the sources of this narration along with Ahmad ibn Hanbal.

A duty has been delegated to the head of the state as a necessity of obligation. Pay attention! Almighty Allah has delegated duty to the head of the state as a necessity of obligation. To collect sadaqah and taxes belong to the head of the state, meaning the head of the state or administration is to collect these taxes rightfully, and establish a social state. This obligation belongs to the state administration, presidency. Would it be enough if taxpayer gives directly to the poor? No, it won’t. For instance, the state would not have done its obligation if a rich person goes and gives alms directly to the poor, even if he gives duly. The state must do this properly. Don’t worry, you will not lose laicity or something! Do not fear, laicity will gain more strength if you establish justice, and you will not love it because noble laicity is within Islam, and fabricated laicity is what Allah and Islam disapproves.

As for the laicity that is accepted by Allah, Islam has given freedom of religion and conscience to all nations in the world. You only recently came up with it, wasn’t laicity a thing in the world before yesterday? Wasn’t Allah present in the world? See, it is Allah who created the worlds or alamin. Therefore, you are to seek truth and reality in Allah, in Al-Quran Al-Karim, and in Hz. Muhammad. Laicity in detail, along with whatsoever there is right and real that brings forth all rights and freedoms are in the contents of Islam. There is no such thing as what Allah knows and what Allah doesn’t know. Islam incorporates all that is right. Truth may be in the westerners, those who believe, or even those who disbelieve. Wherever there is a truth, there is Islam. It is Islamic. It is a command from the commands of Islam. It is a rule from the rules of Islam. There is Islam where there is a truth. Islam is knowledge, science, and learning. Islam is but justice. See, some people wish to destroy Islam for the sake of laicity. Another doesn’t even know what laicity is and tries to destroy rights and freedoms in the name of Islam. Islam is not like that. Islam is a divine order, and there are no flaws in Islam. As for charred brains, they do not comprehend Islam. So, you should understand and get to know Allah, explore Al-Quran Al-Karim, explore Islam, and explore the universe for that is what the Quran wants. What backwardness? Bigotry and backwardness is not acknowledging Allah and Islam.

Time Stamp: 25:00

Non-contemporaneity is therein! What is non-contemporary is disbelief (kufr), ignorance (jahalat), injustice (zulm), and devouring people’s right. You can only observe this among monsters. As for Islam, it is the most exalted civilization for it is divine! Try to get it if you couldn’t understand Islam. Are you denying simply because you do not know? The sun rises every day, but you claim it does not exist once you cover your eyes. Now, is Allah non-existent simply because you deny? Is Islam non-existent simply because you deny? Do not do this much evil to yourself! Have pity on yourself, and if you know to pity yourself, then you will also pity humanity, and you will straighten your duties and be saved from wrong. May nobody ruin himself! That is why our beloved Prophet is said that the head of state is obliged to collect taxes, sadaqah, and zakat, and it is not enough if taxpayer pays the poor directly because in that case the head of state will not have done his duty. Let’s say a rich person did his duty, what about those who don’t? What about poor-dues then? You are to give the poor his right, that is a definite command of Allah. So, what is the source of fanaticism, terror, and all evil in the world? If you devour the rights of the poor, not ensure justice, and not establish balances, then you cannot prevent terror in the world either. Why? Haven’t they said, “One eats, other looks, and then all hell breaks loose.” It is the unjust or zalimun who causes that. Whosoever devour the rights of the poor are causing all hell break loose, and they spread the seeds of terror. That is not enough, you are to instil true education and learning, iman (faith), and respect to Allah to people, and they should know they are in Allah’s presence. You are to give such a moral lesson to the world, and this is Islam’s own moral lesson, that people will know they are in the presence of the Creator. Then, they will love creatures because they love Allah. They will be respectful to creatures because they are respectful to Allah. They are to establish justice and do no wrong. What will a person who has no respect to Allah do? They do right if it serves them or do wrong if it serves them. They do whatever serves them. Do you think there will be mercy where there is no iman (faith)? It does not happen without iman (faith), and haqq ilm (true knowledge). Also, in that event the head of state will not have done his duty. If the rich say, “There is no need for the state, I will give,” then the head of state will not have done his duty.” Meaning, the state will not have done its duty. The state is to collect taxes as is due, and establish a proper and honest social state, and distribute justly. You will not make distinction between East or West. Are they all humans? Then they are all valuable. Every human being is to be treated with social justice, and you are to make the distribution. You are to make a fair distribution. You will not favour certain people, and not take bribes, and not deal unjustly. You will establish justice, and you will give every work to those who are competent at it. Moreover, you are to provide a real education and learning in schools, raise scientists, raise discoverers, raise explorers. The religion (din) of Islam is a pathfinder religion. The religion (din) of Islam command deducing what is unknown through what is known non-stop. The religion (din) of Islam says, “He whose two days are equal is at a loss.”

Time Stamp: 30:02

O the world! Acknowledge Islam! O the world! Acknowledge Allah! O the world! Do not deny your Creator! Tomorrow, Allah’s armies will take you away, and you will be brought to account. Azrail’s armies are breathing down your neck, and they will take your life away when your life-span ends. That is a truth and reality.

That is why taxpayer is not saved from his debt of zakat, meaning the state is to do its job right, and the rich are to do their job right, and the poor-dues are to be given. Indisputably, that is what Islam wants. Now, will Allah’s justice accept that a person lives and enjoys himself in the realm of lords in ivory towers while other sleeps hungry? Can the justice of Allah accept that? Can the mercy of Allah accept that? Can this example, which is not accepted by anyone’s mercy be accepted by Allah’s mercy? That is injustice (zulm), and rebellion against Allah Ta’ala. O the world! Give up this injustice (zulm) and give people their rights! The blessings (nimat) of Allah are more than enough for everyone! If you accumulate wealth, and pile up goods, you can only eat as much as you can or wear as much as you can. You cannot do anything extra, and you cannot go out of the sustenance (rizq) that has been distributed to you. Then why are you turning halal things into haram for yourself while there is halal sustenance (rizq) of Allah? Why are you devouring the rights of the poor and the needy? Every haram is a calamity, trouble.

Al-Quran Al-Kareem – Tafsir (Exegesis) Lesson 332

I seek shelter in Allah from the rejected Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Every haram is a bane of one’s world. He who eats people’s right, eats trouble and calamity, and swallows germs. Afflicted by aidless troubles and calamities. One cannot prosper by devouring poor-dues, you will be ruined. Don’t forget that!

Hodja recites what Janâb-i Haqq has said.

What did our beloved Prophet do? He wanted them to pay their taxes as is due and wanted zakat to be paid properly. Farm animals, cattle, camel, sheep and goat; the tax collectors were to collect the zakat in locations. That is, the collectors were to roam about places where flocks are supposed to be at. As incomes regarding producing grain, gardening, farming, and all other types of trading goods, industrial goods, technological production centres, and whatsoever people earn, if their earnings have reached a level where zakat and tax is due, then they are to pay their tax, sadaqah, and zakat. The taxes are to be collected thereby. Taxes are to be collected outrightly, and a fair distribution is to be made. A powerful nation is a powerful state. Zakat of people with hidden wealth such as owners of physical valuables like gold and silver would be carried to our Prophet by their owners. It was like that for a period during times of Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman. Then, one day, Hz. Uthman propounded a khutbah (sermon) on a day of ramadan al-sharif during his caliphate and said, “This month is the month of your zakat.” That is what Hz. Umar said in khutbah (sermon) on a day of ramadan al-sharif. He said, “Those who have debt should pay it, and purify their wealth.” Thus, he left the payment of poor-dues to people themselves.

Now, these are about hidden wealth, and the state collects the tax of open wealth. As for the hidden wealth, at that time Hz. Uthman left it to the consciences of the rich. However, the tax of known and seen wealth should be collected as long as wealth is discovered and acknowledged, for it is a known wealth, and the state has to collect its tax. It was no longer valid for the head of the state to collect tax from this wealth because they couldn’t see it, know it, or discover it because it was hidden wealth. It was left to the conscience of the rich at that time, but the state could find that out and discover it. If it is realized that a person is evading zakat, then the state should do its duty thereby. That is a just state contract. In Islam, there is a fair imam contract, and what is meant by imam here is the head of the state. His provisions are valid over people. Collectors were not sent for hidden wealth. They would bring it to the imam, the caliph, themselves. Now, there are periods when people bring it, and there may also be times when people don’t. Pay close attention, conditions may change, people’s cultural structure may change, people’s moral structure may change, mercy may diminish, and if you leave it to the conscience of people when hearts become barren; but people have no conscience in those circumstances! They do not give poor-dues, and eats haram like there is no tomorrow.

They devour people’s right. What should state do here? It is to show its just conduct. It is to collect the tax and give it to the poor, and strengthen its nation and social state, and ensure justice. Islam, mercy, and iman (faith) will have established in the hearts, and people will not devour anyone’s right even if you tell them to, for everybody fears Allah. Such a national spirit will form. Iman, and Islam will establish in the hearts, and Islam has established a throne, and everybody will know they are in Allah’s presence, and they all will show respect to Allah, and fulfil Allah’s command. There was such a state in which a national spirit had formed; this was the conditions of time back then. Today, there are heartless people who may set up a table over the dead and moribund people, and drink alcohol. There are cut-throats who shed people’s blood in masses, and they have always been present in every era rarely, but if morals grow weaker and there is no justice, then there will be problems in the world, and much bigger responsibilities will befall the state.

When wealth became apparent, tax collectors were assigned. It is like this in terms of trading goods, the state takes the tax and zakat of trading goods as long as it can find out about it and give it to the poor. In the time of Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz, and this revered figure called Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz was a fair head of the state, and he was like the Great Umar, he was an Umar on his way. Radeyallahu anhum wa ardahum ajmain. May Allah be pleased with those who work for the better good of humankind only for Allah. May Allah be pleased with all faithful people, and we seek Janâb-i Haqq’s guidance of faith (iman) for the faithless.

Now, during the reign of Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz, believers would pay 1/40 tax from trading goods, and 0.5 dinars of tax would be taken from 20 dinars. See, that is 0.5 dinars for every 20 dinars, and 1 dinar for every 20 dinars were taken from non-Muslims (dhimmis). He had given a written order to collectors that nothing should be taken from them until a year passes.

He had written to the tax collectors that this has been said by our Prophet (asw), and somebody who heard this has informed him.

Friends, these tax collectors were called al-ʿāmili. It was written by Umar to these tax collectors to collect quarter ashr from believers, half ashr from dhimmis, and a full ashr from the harbis.

Editor’s note: Dhimmis are non-Muslim citizens, and harbis are citizens of non-Muslim countries.

A quarter ashr is 1/40, that is what equals to. Conditions such as nisab, agil – barn tax, and ownership are also valid. There had been a consensus (ijma), and this was what Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz did, meaning he was following the way of Great Umar. Now, as conditions of time change; surely there today there are various trading goods. There is a commercial activity in the world, and the situation about them is evaluated by jurists. The licensed and competent people should take the conditions of time into consideration, and a proper distribution should be made, and justice should be ensured.

Certain provisions change when conditions of time change, but the essence of the provision does not change. The essence of the provision never changes. The essence of that provision brings forth new provisions according to conditions of time, and ijtihad – human effort emerges, and people deduce unknown through known, and the gates of ijtihad – human effort are open until last day.

This here mentions irja, it means to postpone.

The acceptance of the repentance is not certain.

Wa-lladhīna.

In the recitations or qiraat of Ibn-i Kathīr, Abu Amr, Aasim, Abu Bakr Shu’ba, and Yaqoub, it is recited as murjawna. Its original is murjauna.

From Mujahid, Ka’b b. Mâlik, Mürare b. Rabi, Hilal ibn Umayyah.

This is from the narrations of Bukhari, Muslim, and Ahmad ibn Hanbal, “Those who tied themselves to the pillars of Al-Masjid an-Nabawi are those who were not in a hurry to repent,” and Companions of Badr were also among them. They were not hypocrites. They were deceived believers. In the recitations of Nafiʽ, Ibn Amir, and Abu Jaafar, this is recited without wāw. It means, to try to harm. Bani Amr ibn Auf had built Masjid Qubā, and they invited our Prophet (asw) as well. After the construction of Masjid Qubā, our Prophet had led the namāz. There is Al-Suyuti among the sources of this news, and it is under record in Al-Dur al-Manthur.

Bani Gunum ibn Awf said, let us also build a masjid and invite our Prophet, and they were first cousins but there was also jealousy between them. They also said, “Priest Abu Amr will also come from Damascus and perform worship here.” This priest was a secret coup-plotter who was the head and chief of hypocrites (munafiq). See, this priest was a secret coup-plotter. He wanted to destroy Islam and stop Hz. Muhammad and the progress of Islam, and he wanted to receive aid from imperialist superpowers of the time and stage a coup in Madinah. They wanted to build a Masjid al-Didar and establish a terror centre thereby. Our Prophet (asw) named that priest as “Al-Fasiq” because Hz. Muhammad knew that priest was after insurrection and coup. The name of this priest was Abu Amr. At that time Damascus was in the hands of Byzantium, in the hands of the Rums. This priest had gone to Damascus, he had escaped there. He was always among the ranks of the enemy of our Prophet. He was a priest who fought against our Prophet. This priest is the father of Handala who was martyred in the Battle of Uhud who given a bath by angels. Pay attention to the difference between the father and the son. Handala was martyred in the Battle of Uhud, and angels had bathed his mortal remains. See, the angels came to bath him. He was a martyr like that, a faithful Muslim, a hero, and he was a mujahid (fighter) martyr. As for this martyr’s father, he was a priest who was hostile to our Prophet. He was after coup, and he was in service as the leader and pioneer of the hypocrites (munafiq). The hypocrites (munafiq) relied on that priest, and they hoped to drive our Prophet out of Madinah and kill him.

They were plotting against our Prophet (asw). Now, look at this. The father was Christian priest while his son Handala was an Islamic fighter (mujahid) and an Islamic martyr.   Handala, do not forget. Radeyallahu anhum wa ardahum ajmain. Let us see what he says against our Prophet. That priest said to our Prophet, “I will join whomsoever I find against you, and fight against you.” Moreover, our Prophet named him “Al-Fasiq”. He was among the ranks of enemy in the Battle of Uhud, and he was fighting against our Prophet. He was also with the enemy in the Battle of Hunayn, and he was fighting against our Prophet. Then, he escaped to Damascus. No evil army has the chance of scoring a victory or even standing against Islam. If the Muslims are miserable today, it is because they don’t do their duty. Hold fast to Al-Quran Al-Karim, in order to ensure peace in the world, all Muslims including all men and women on earth are to do jihad only for peace and become fighters/mujahidin. As long as Muslims are not fighters/mujahidin and as long as they do not oppose terror, Muslims will continue to be miserable. Surely, there are exceptions for I am not referring to Muslims who abide by truth and reality, and act upon the Quran, divine order, and science. We are referring to those who are called Muslim even though they have no correlation whatsoever with Islam, who do the exact opposite of whatsoever Islam says, and who assume they are Muslim. That is why, this priest named Amr the Fasiq had escaped to Damascus at that time. He had sent a secret message to the hypocrites (munafiq), telling them to prepare a force, get ready, and arm themselves, and he also sent a message saying he will go to Kaîsar, and come back with an army, and drive out Muhammad from Madinah. He sent this after escaping to Damascus. See, his men, the hypocrites (munafiq) had built Masjid al-Didar. That is, they had built a centre of coup under the name of a masjid. See, they had invited our Prophet (asw), and our Prophet told them he will come to their masjid upon his return from the Expedition of Tabuk. Then our Prophet returned from the Expedition of Tabuk, and they had built Masjid al-Dirar, and they visited our Prophet.

These verses were revealed. Which verses? We are referring to the 107th verse of Surah al-Tawbah [9] or Surah Bara’ah [9] in which Allah (c.c.) informed Hz. Muhammad (asw) of why they built Masjid al-Didar. Almighty Allah informed him that it was built as a centre of coup, and aid comes or will come from all evil powers in the world, and they were making plans to destroy Islam.

Our Prophet (asw) summoned Malik ibn Duhshun, Ma’n ibn Adi, Amr ibn Sakan, and Wahshi ibn Harb when these verses came, and told them to go ahead and bring this masjid whose companions are the unjust/zalim crashing down. That Masjid al-Dirar. It was a masjid of fitnah. He said it because that was what Allah commanded. And its place became a garbage dump. That fasiq called Abu Amr stayed in Damascus, and he died in Qinnasrin. Whoever opposed Allah has been destroyed no matter who he was, and they will be destroyed, there is no doubt about it. You cannot oppose Allah. If he was a real priest and read the Bible correctly, then he should have become a Muslim immediately, but why? Bible heralds Hz. Muhammad. Muhammad and Isa are brothers, and they are more than brothers because both are Messengers of Allah. Those who wronged Isa and the Bible, and the evil mentality that wronged Musa and the Torah have wanted to do the same wrong to Muhammad as well, and they wanted to destroy Muhammad. So, whose mentality is that? The mentality that wanted to crucify Isa, one that murdered Zechariah and Yahya is the same mindset. If you don’t read the Quran correctly, don’t read the Bible correctly, don’t read the Torah correctly, do not know that Allah sent Musa, Isa, and Muhammad, disacknowledge Allah’s unity, then what happens? There will be duality or pentad in the world. There will be blood, fight, segregation, and enmity. Allah is one, and it is Allah who assigned all Messengers. It is the enemies of Torah, Bible, and Quran who invented duality. Janâb-i Haqq renews the previous book with the next one. Allah personally renews the previous sharia with the next sharia. Allah renewed the past with Islam. Allah is One, and all Prophets are Islamic Prophets. Humankind came and set foot in earth, and Islam began to fill with people, and other Prophets came for people, and this continues until eternity with Muhammad, but why? Hz. Muhammad is the last Prophet. He is the Prophet of the End Times, so get your mind straight. He is the last Prophet.

Hodja recites the hawqala.

Hodja recites an invocation (dua).

Esteemed friends, those who oppose Allah, who oppose truth, justice, and supremacy of rights (huquq) have always been destroyed, and they will be destroyed. Those who seek unearned income gather their people and procure an unearned income somewhere, become rulers, be predominant, disregard truth and justice, never think anything but their income, neglect knowledge (ilm) and learning (irfan); these people prepare the destruction of humankind. Such a shame, really.

Our Prophet (asw) had led the namāz five times a day on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday when he visited Masjid Qubā after it was built. Then again, according to a narration from Al-Qurtubi, “Saʽid al-Khudri,” radeyallahu anhum wa ardahum ajmain, “had asked about the masjid al-taqwa (masjid of Godwariness) to our Prophet (asw), and he said that it is Al-Masjid an-Nabawi.” See, he asked our Prophet (asw) about it, and he replied that it is Al-Masjid an-Nabawi. These verses make mention of masjid al-taqwa (masjid of Godwariness).

Time Stamp: 25:03

Now, about masjid al-taqwa, firstly Al-Masjid an-Nabawi and Masjid Qubā are masjids of piety or masjid al-taqwa. When this verse was revealed, our Prophet went to Masjid Qubā with a group of emigrants (muhajirin),

When this verse was revealed, a group of emigrants (muhājirīn) went to Masjid Qubā, and our Prophet went there concerning masjids of piety or masjid al-taqwa, and this was concerning masjid al-taqwa. The helpers (ansar) were sitting in Masjid Qubā. Our Prophet went inside and stopped. After a while our Prophet asked those who were sitting in the mosque, “Are you believers?” He asked it to those who were sitting inside Masjid Qubā. Naturally, everybody kept silent. Our Prophet asked again, “Are you believers?” Hz. Umar immediately replied, “O Rasulullah! Surely, they are believers (mu’min), and I am with them.” Our Prophet (asw) asked the helpers (ansar), “Are you pleased with qada‘ (decree).” They said, “Yes.” He asked, “Do you show patience in the face of affliction?”

They said, “Yes.” Our Prophet asked, “Do you give thanks in times of abundance?” They said, “Yes.” Then, our Prophet (asw) said, “I swear by the Rabb of the Kaaba that they are believers (mu’min).”

O listeners! There are crucial lessons to be learned here. What did our Prophet say about the helpers (ansar)? He said, “I swear by the Rabb of Kaaba that they are believers (mu’min),” he said. He said that they are believers (mu’min) by the right of the Rabb of Kaaba. O helpers (ansar)! Radeyallahu anhum wa ardahum ajmain. Allah praised you a lot (meth-ü-sena). Allah praises the emigrants (muhājirīn) and the helpers (ansar) in al-Quran Al-Karim. Radeyallahu anhum wa ardahum ajmain. They are pioneering heroes of Islam. They are stars that shine in the sky, that revolve around Hz. Muhammad. Our Prophet addressed them, “O helpers (ansar)! Allah has praised you a lot (meth-ü-sena), what do you do in abdast (wudu)? And abdast (wudu) is among our very important worships (ibadat).

Esteemed friends, they replied, “We wipe using three pieces of stone, and then wash with water.” We have given the meanings of verses in Al-Quran Al-Karim that came from Janâb-i Haqq about cleanliness. He then recited the verse that says, “Therein are men who love to keep pure.” There are Ibn Majah and Ahmad ibn Hanbal among the sources of this narration. They would wash urine remains with water, and they would not go about or sleep while they are junub. Tehattur is to be cleaned and purified from physical or spiritual dirt. As for dirar, it incorporates evil traits such as kufr (disbelief) tafriqa (dissension), and ifsad (subversion). As for tehattur, it is to be purified from inward stains such as sin, rebellion, stinginess, and laziness. Pay attention because it is a physical and spiritual pureness. Now, it is to be purified of all stains. It is to be completely cleaned of inward stains such as shirk (polytheism), kufr (disbelief), nifaq (hypocrisy) and riya (two-facedness), and tehattur is also the name of being cleaned of outward stains.

Time Stamp: 30:11

As for Didar, it is the opposite of that. Disbelief and discursion are in Didar, and evil traits such as subversion are within the contents of Didar. That is why the essence of the matter is faith (iman), patience (sabr), and thankfulness (shukr). For one thing, iman or faith here is indispensable. Your patience (sabr) is as powerful as your faith (iman), and a person whose faith (iman) and patience (sabr) are strong is the greatest fighter (mujahid) and the greatest hero. They said, “Yes,” when our Prophet asked them, “Are you pleased with qada‘ (decree).” They said, “Yes,” when he asked them, “Do you show patience in the face of affliction?” They said, “Yes,” when he asked them, “Do you give thanks in times of abundance?”

See, it was iman/faith that said “Yes,” to these. It is of no use if a person does not adopt faith (iman), has no knowledge of his heart, and repeats words like a parrot. Hypocrites or munafiq say yes to everything with their tongues, but they deny with their hearts. They refute their own utterances themselves. That is why another attribute of Masjid al-Didar is “juruf”, a place ready to topple down, a place ready to vanish to jahannam. As for “hār” it means something is about to collapse. Now, you have built a building on a land that is about to collapse, ready to topple down. So, what will happen? It will vanish. Masjid al-Didar means a place ready to vanish to jahannam. Why? Because it was built in order to shelter polytheism (shirk), disbelief (kufr), hypocrisy (nifaq), fitna-o-fasad (mischief and riot). That is, Masjid al-Didar.

With that said, the position of Muslims should be Bayna’l Khawf Ve’r Raja – Between Hope and Fear. Muslims live between hope and fear. They never lose hope in Allah, but they also fear a lot, and love with every fibre of their being. Many hearts cannot be saved from fitnah and doubt for eternity, and these are the worst hearts. If a heart cannot be saved from fitnah and doubt, then they cannot be saved from these until it is torn to pieces I the end. The hearts of hypocrites (munafiq); sealed hearts are all like that. Allah forbid.

We say may Janâb-I Haqq make us among truly faithful people, and among people with good deeds (amal-e-saleh), who are happy in the world, who also work for the better good and happiness of humankind. We say may Janâb-I Haqq destine us to live the truth, spread the truth, and be enlightened by the life-giving light, and attain endless and boundless blessings and undying bliss.
